It's never done anything for me. I think the Chrono function is completely overrated. Who uses one, and for what? Cooking eggs?

I love the look of the Daytona, the history, etc.. But I have a hard time reading the time. I'm only in my 30's, will I be able to read it in ten years? Twenty? Not likely. That being said, I'm still 31st on my AD's list

I love the fact that all of you don't like the Daytona, makes it easier pickings for those of us who love it. I know a lot about watches, am not a woman, love chronographs and will never part with my TT Zenith Slate Daytona. Always loved it, told myself I'd get one one day, and I did.

Enjoy the things you do like and don't waste your time and energy worrying about the things you don't!!

The Daytona is iconic for a reason. It’s a Rolex chronograph which brings itself makes it special. Most other brands have many chrono models but Rolex has only the Daytona and it’s always been coveted.

It’s certainly not perfect. The faults are the screw down pushers and the excess writing on the dial.

The strengths are the name, the movement, the quality and the reliability. And the exclusivity if that’s contrived.

As far as the Daytona being a woman's watch, consider all the watches made that are in the 50mm+ range; Invicta uses female models to sell them. According to their propaganda, a 44mm watch is a woman's watch so all the Rolex watches made could fit in that category. Women like Daytonas because they're the hardest to come my and reflect an accomplishment in owning one.
Oh and as far as the steel bezels on the Daytonas go, there are always showing their scars. I think the ceramic is far better.

Let's see, I use it to time my swims, keep track of frequent dose meds (sudafed) on a daily basis. Anytime there's something I need to time. I guess it would work for eggs however I usually make omelets.

I'm curious how many owners don't like them. Sounds like a poll in the making but lately I've been very suspect of the poll accuracy here as more than a quarter of the forum member apparently own platinum Rolex watches

Sort of neutral here.

I could take it or leave it.

May get one someday, who knows.

Yeah, I’ve never liked it. Can’t tell the time, useless function, ugly dial, etc.

Wait a second. AD, it is finally my turn??? I’ll be over ASAP!!

I’ve been offered a 116520 black dial in a trade a couple years ago which was well in my favour. Still passed on it because I don’t like it lol. So that’s not necessarily the case for me.

No. If they made it in 42mm maybe my opinion would be different. Too small poor legibility. I get they hype just not for me

I was fortunate to acquire one fairly quickly from my AD. I go back and forth on it. I love the way it looks in the hand, but on the wrist, it doesn't sing to me. I can't explain it, because I loved it as a grail--nearly unattainable piece, but once I have it, it doesn't set my heart aflutter like my 1680 does.

Constantly entertaining selling it, but I just can't commit to getting rid of it consider how difficult it is (in general) to get.

Am I the only member that has never liked the Daytona?

I don’t know why anyone would buy one...

I've owned pretty much most of the regular steel Daytonas including the 6239, Zenith, ceramic ones but never seem to wear them due to poor readibility of the dial and hands and no date.. and for the newer ones I hate unscrew the buttons

BUT I keep buying because the hype

My GF describes the dial as “agitated”... and I can’t disagree. Then theres the name: Daytona. A city/beach area in Florida that in my view is less than glamorous. (Read: trashy) that is famous for the auto racetrack. Auto racing = Loud, obnoxious... and trashy. All those things together mean there is one less person in the fray fighting over one of these watches. Subject to change of course

Im into Rolex, particularly GMT, Skydweller and Day Date. Will add a sub in due course but no plans to add a Daytona - never done anything for me, perhaps wears a bit small but I think the main issue I have is I don't like chronographs.

Lasted 3 months in my collections, end up giving it up, but the low profile case wears so comfortable!

I can certainly see why these fly off the shelves, but not my favorite reference either. The only one I like it the platinum version. The brown ceramic bezel really pops and knowing that it’s platinum gets my heart racing

This one is beautiful. Especially in person. I’ve actually seen many of these out in the wild here where I live. Very sporty with the Oysterflex bracelet.

Not a Rolex but this has an inhouse movement too and it's 45mm.

I see you post this Ebel from time to time. This is a really nice watch. I like the finish on the bracelet. Is doesn’t look like a 45mm on you. Probably too big for me unfortunately

Wanted one for years (15+) - they always looked so good in the photos. When I finally bought one (black face SS), found I could barely read the time on it. Too small, too much shiny bling. Stuck to it for 2 years, my eyesight got even worse, flipped it. A Speedmaster, on the other hand, is very legible.

There was a point (not long ago) when I too didn't like the Daytona. I think the reason was strictly the exuberant writing on the dial. It seemed (and still does seem) unnecessary and distracting.

When I saw the old Daytonas, especially the creamy dials, I saw the watch in an entirely different light. They're (objectively) far more couture than so many other Rolex watches, if not the most couture (which does not necessarily imply they're "better").

The Daytona is THE Rolex. The most iconic of the bunch.

However that doesn't mean everyone is supposed to like it. I've tried a few on and quite frankly it did nothing for me. It does look great in pictures, though. Just my humble opinion.
