Scam attempt / alert - be careful out there

Posted a WTB a few days ago for an Omega and received a PM from username Tanner.

"I have the watch for sale in Like New condition, Works perfectly, Send me a message to tannercollections@gmail.com, So i can forward you the watch details and pics.

Thanks"

Seeing that he was a 2018 Pledge Member, i fired off an email asking for the details.

Received the following:

"For sale is Omega Speedmaster Racing Master Chronometer Chronograph in
like NEW condition.

329.33.44.51.04.001

The watch is a safe queen, The watch has no scratches, dents or dings.

Comes with box and papers

Asking a fair price of $4,700 shipped and insured to your doorstep.

Payment by Wire transfer.

Thanks"

I then did some DD on Tanner and figured he was located in the UK, so i proceed with another email to confirm, given that I'd need to pay import taxes if this was the case.

This is his reply:

Good to hear from you, Am located in Florida, The watch is like New,
Purchased 2018 March. The warranty card is stamped by the AD. It has
warranty letf. Yes I have refs on TRF, You can contact Dominoeffect15
and WatchCoalition on Rolexforum via private message. I think my price
is fair enough, I can let it go for $4500 shipped and insured.

Seeing how the location he gave and the post history did not line up, i did a quick search on google and uncovered this thread https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=651496

Wowza...if some jerk used a few well-known names as vouchsafed references it begins to make these scams easier for new members to fall victim.

I thought it was odd and unfortunate that the mods closed the earlier thread where the op was trying to warn TRF members about a possible scam. Fidalgobay seemed too non-challant that his pm had been "supposedly" hacked. If it were my pm hacked I would have been much more excited. Scary.
