Very nice , i wish i could own one someday, but the price in Thailand is very high.the gray market would cost USD15,xxx. Not to mention about the price in AP boutique.

Thank you for sharing. I'm sure when I'm ready for this, I will be going through the exact same things, the questions, the contemplating, the sleepless nights....but that is what makes it so much fun!

Congrats and enjoy the watch for many years to come!

good choice.. 15400 is amazing and black dial kicks ass.. i think the blue dial suits a pp more than an ap..

Was sitting on the fence with 15300 and 15400 as well but was more concern about the dial color where the 15300 is more of a crisp white while the 15400 is more of a silverish white thus hope to get the 15400 in Black soon. Thanks for the insightful review.

Great review.

The first time I tried to set the time on mine, I had the hand jump, as well. Scared the hell out of me. I tried to set again, but this time hacked the second hand exactly at 12, then set the time. This time the hand did not jump. My watch has been very accurate, so I haven't tried to reset it,yet.

To stop the minute hand jumping...go a few minutes past the time you want then move the hand backwards to the correct time...then give the crown a very small wiggle (the hand shouldn't move)...and push it back in.

Done.

You could get the 15400 in RG, that has a flatter white dial like the 300.

Good tip, jumping was a nuisance on my diver (also 3120 movement)

In contrast,
the AP crown pulls out and actuates super smooth , but tended to jump while setting it.
Vs
The rolex crown seems to often pull out with a bit of a fight, but stays put while setting it.

An absolutely fascinating review.
I loved your writing on your thought process and the journey.
It is always the journey rather than the actual kill.
I remember my first chase of an "expensive" Swiss mechanical watch way back in 2007-2008 - A Breitling Super Avenger. It took me 4-5 months and a lot of soul searching and reading up and exploring alternatives for a "better deal" before I finally bought one from the AD.

I remember feeling a bit bitter-sweet sad when I wore the watch on my hand. The journey was over!

8 years and 7 watches later (Panerai, JLC, Omega, IWC, Eterna) this is still my favorite. And no other watch made my heart race as much as this Breitling.

Great review. Wear in good health.

Great story only improved by wearing a Spurs Football shirt when taking the pictures😀

I can't afford, or refuse to afford, this watch, but I do admire it from afar. It's as good as my SubC anyday.. actually, better, far better. congrats.

This is still one of the best review ever written on TRF. It inspired me to start my AP collection.

x2, Ben.

When I was considering swapping my Daytona for a 15400, this really helped push me in the right direction.

Great review. Thanks for mentioning your wrist size. always important to those of us with the 7" wrist. I don't think I can afford it, but I want to try one one. DAMN!!!!
