The only reference I really like are the WG on the Oyster Flex, and of course, the platinum. The contrast of ice blue and brown ceramic is just spot on. The SS versions of the reference are just so so to me

So many threads started to discuss watches folks don’t like, mostly of in demand watches like the Daytona, BLRO, LVC, etc. Seems like some of these thread starters have a mild case of the sour grapes. OP, of course others don’t like the Daytona, just like some don’t like your Sub.

I’m not much a fan of Chronos, I also don’t like PCLs, so Daytona is very unlikely to be on my wrist some day. Although I recognize it’s a special watch.

Great looking watch off the wrist, however it wears way too small for me. I would prefer a 42mm version. It surprises me the Daytona is the only chronograph within Rolex's full lineup.

Owned the 116520 (black) and just never got along with legibility and the overly polished look and feel of that ref. That said...loving the newer ceramic bezel & PM variants.

I like the looks of the Daytona...cool looking watch and quite a few options that seem to give it a really different look with various dial colors...etc. So, I see the attraction, But, at those prices, I personally wouldn't buy a watch that had complications that I would never, or hardly ever, use. And I don't really have any need for Chronograph functions in my life or a Tachymeter scale on a bezel. I would never use it. I would just look at it. Therefore, it's really not something that I ever see myself owning.

Never been a fan of the Daytona. Don't see what all the fuss is about.

Lets face it, with current fashion trends the Daytona is classed as a ladies watch nowadays anyway.
If you look at a photo of a female celeb that owns a Rolex, 95% of the time its a Daytona. I'll stick with my GMT ;-)

I also don't love it, although like some others I have a general dislike for chronographs, so my dislike isn't specific to the Daytona.

I’ve never been a Daytona fan either. I wouldn’t be surprised if your tastes change, though, and you end up liking the model. It wasn’t long ago that you were a vintage kinda guy who liked the older/vintage style Rolexes the best.....fast forward a year or so and your two-piece “forever” collection consists of two modern, 6-digi references. See what I’m sayin’?

I wouldn’t refuse, but it wouldn’t be my pick.

Most people I would expect only really want one or lust after it because of the hype. If they were not so rare and easy to get, I bet nobody would give a crap. I do not find them to be anything special. No date and screw down chronos (come on, really?). Who uses a chrono anyhow??

Each to their own, I like the Daytona very much and therefore I own one but I have really disliked tattoos since I saw the first one.

I was actually with you on this...UNTIL, I tried one on! Pictures do not do justice as they say. If you have tried one on and still feel that way more power to you but for me I am a changed man

Not on my list at all. I find them too cluttered, and difficult to read. It's a good job we're all different.

Too small, too much writing on the dial, hate the PCL’s, and not fond of the premium price.

I always felt the Daytona had too much going on the bezel. GMT is the most I can handle, with the Sub bezel being perfection.

I’m not a huge fan either, especially because there’s no date. However, for fun I tried on an ice blue platinum and it was amazing. Waaaay beyond what I’d pay for a watch.

Mine is an interesting case. I loved the Daytona before I knew or appreciated what Rolex was. I owned a two tone zenith which I traded for the ss model which I wanted nutmeg had problems obtaining. I have had it since 2014 and have had my interest in the piece decline. This is due in part to the polished links, but more had to do with the almost complete lack of functionality is more of a problem for me. Given I use the chrono often in my job, it’s a pain to screw out. Number 2, there are not enough hash marks denoting the minutes, making actually reading elapsed time very difficult. The sub rings are shiny also making ledigibity challenging. So when I was younger I looked at the overall image of the watch which is still stunning, but it’s the detail amd and function that I need-this my declining interest. Ultimately this may get flipped for the new 321 Speedmaster which is infinately a more functional piece. |

I like it because I think it’s the nicest looking Rolex ever made and the size/thickness is perfect for my wrist. This is just my opinion. Could always start “am I the only one that doesn’t like the submariner, explorer, gmt, date just” and so on. I’m glad we have choices or we would all have the same watch lol.

I'm a fan, just not at the market price.
Of course, I'm the same idiot that drops $17k on a work of art without thinking about it, so my opinion is worthless. |
