Day date 40 wg vs yg thoughts

If you could only own 1 which would it be? I have love for both but wouldn't know which 1 I'd pick when the time comes

Yellow gold
White gold would look too similar to my ss datejust. I would like a gold DJ or Day date to wear, because my collection is mostly ss

I'd prefer YG for the same reasons as Sublovin.

Depends....as a one and only watch, I’d go with WG. In a collection of two or more, which included something SS, I’d go YG. Given your list of watches...YG.

Its a DD...it is meant to be on YG champaign dial gold romans. Its the perfect picture of what a Day date is.

Just like a sub should be Black bezel.

Agree! Based on the collection in the signature, I think YG would be a great complement.

I’ve been having the same debate. Don’t think you’ll go wrong. I know you asked about the DD40 but I tried on a 5 digit WG 36 with stick markers and the thing was just amazing. Good luck with the hunt!

Definitely the YG DD for me. I love the classic look of this model in gold.

If I were you, OP, I would go yellow gold due to the fact that you already have SS models.

Never understood the WG thing? May as well be a stainless model. Definitely go with the yellow gold.

I’m torn on this. I had a WG DD for a number of years, but it eventually went because it rarely got worn. I’ve had a WG BLRO for almost three years, which I suspect might be leaving the stable soon...

....so my vote goes yellow this time.

Hello, I have given this alot of thought and I think you have to go with the Yellow Gold for the Day Date 40 with the White Roman Numerals. It just looks amazing and I think the WG just doesn't as good as the Yellow Gold.

Nothing beat a Day-Date in yellow gold, it is an iconic watch.

For the 40mm I would go white gold. I find it too much in YG in the 40 but the 36mm yg is perfect. That's the way I went. If I go DD 40 WG for me.

White gold, not a fan of yellow gold at all. Don’t mind Rose gold. Platinum would be my ultimate choice if funds allowed.

I'd go WG if I'm keeping it on the (excellent) bracelet, but YG if I'm putting it on a nice croc strap. YG, black dial, semi-glossy black croc strap... ooooooh.

*edit* I just checked, and there's no black version of that slick new Roman dial with the applied indexes. Such a shame.

DD should be YG and president bracelet.

However if it is your only watch and it must be DD, I am afraid the WG will be more versatile.

Depends a little on age imo. If you are <35 then I would do the WG in green or blue - There is something sporty and more youthful about them. If above, then my preference would be the YG.
They are classics and you can't really go wrong

Every time I've bought a white gold watch (DD 40, Daytona), I eventually resent the fact that I've spent all that money and it looks like stainless steel. Maybe that's just me.
