Rolex 6536 with Red-Depth dial

Hello,

Just spotted this one on eBay!
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1955-Vintage-...cAAOSwlMFZNrhm

It's crazy how recently I have seen so many vintage pops up !!! Maybe people think that the vintage prices are at their top right now and that it won't rise more

What do you think?

This watch sold by Jacek two years ago for 42k and later sold through ebay at a loss arouns 33k. Perhaps that owner never sold or the new owner is after a small profit. The watch is in nice condition but not perfect with later hands. I am not certain it will reach even what Jacek asked in 2015 so I don't think this sale reflects your thought. That said I believe some long term collectors are selling off some if their collection in order to secure profit at todays level. That does not necessarily mean they think it market is peaking; it just mean that they want to secure some of the profit their pieces made.

I'm surprised sellers choose eBay for high value pieces like this... with eBay and Payment fees, wouldn't sellers be better off offering them through an established (credible) auction house?

Even though eBay has crazy fees, it has a much greater audience than even the biggest auction houses. The current price is $30K US with 6 days to go still so it may jump even higher before it ends.

Sellers use EBay to get the buzz going. Most end up selling outside of EBay. Like the recent Tudor 7923

Ebay Fees for a piece like that aren't that high, its 10% of final value with a $750 cap, much less than an auction house and liquidity now vs later.
