I would say that the fact Rolex currently do not sell "complicated" watch is merely a company policy choice rather than any indication that they are not capable of producing such movements. Just as the fact they do not cash in on the trend to sell "limited edition" watches. With their resources, it would be a cinch if they do choose to do so.

I agree only to a certain extent.
If i recall correctly Rolex have never produced a turbillion. I do not doubt Rolex can contract an expert who can; but i doubt whether their inhouse watchmakers can.

I like Cartier, they make real nice dress watches. I almost got one when I picked up my Millgauss but I wanted something a bit sportier. I am sure I will get a Cartier or a Patek (if I can find the spare cash) someday.

Found this thread and wonder that after 4 years (since the thread stopped). are people still thinking that Cartier is just a jewelery company?

BTW, the 4 years is coincidental. I happen to search for the Cartier Pasha and found this thread

I owned a Pasha and a Roadster. Loved them both but they needed servicing every 3 years or so and it was expensive. Not as reliable as Rolex, IMO.

a lot has changed in just four short years.....cartier has always been about good design, but, now they have good in-house movements to throw into the mix.

Definitely true, I've always liked their designs, Tank, Roadster, Santos.

I think of them as an awesome company! I don't have any of their watches yet but really like their Calibre Diver in DLC and the Santos Dumont Power Reserve in RG/Grey

I have a Cartier Santos Dumont since I am 18, so that's 26 years, but I never wear it, it was a gift for my 18th from my grand mother, and it's quartz, plus it's not very big, don't know the exact dimensions but at the time is was normal but not anymore, so in fact my wife wears it, not me.

I like Cartier, I loved Rolex, had 4 in all, but now I went completely away from the brand and sold them all, if to go for a dress watch I think Cartier is better, when it comes to sport watches nothing can beat Rolex, apart AP ROO's, but that's IMO in a completely different league in many aspects, not just price wise

I have a lot of respect for Cartier as a whole. So much history in the company and it feels so regal as it should. I might buy a tank for my fiancé.
