People who wear ridiculously large watches

do you have the heart to tell them they look like fools? I don't mean a 42mm watch on a 7" wrist but a 47mm Big Pilot on a 6.5" wrist. We've seen them. The watches actually stretch over the flat parts of their wrists. I hate to say anything, but those watches are wearing YOU.

I have a 7" wrist and don't feel comfortable with a 42" Speedmaster, but I guess to "each his own."

Agreed - it's actually one of my pet hates.

Watches made to look like practical instruments for people who are active professionals but are so large that a mickey mouse watch would be more appropriate (and comfortable).

It's a fashion thing and the watch equivalent of driving a Hummer. I have 7" wrists and love my 42mm Tutima but would not normally ever want to go bigger than 40mm.

Another thought is that due to fast food culture and consequent obesity there are far more people with chunkier wrists who want watches that don't look tiny on them.

It all depends on how comfortable they are with the size of watch vs wrist size. Nothing at all wrong with that.

I'm 6' 5" and 275. I fit in a Hummer like most people fit in a Toyota. My Subs and 44mm Breitling Emergency look very "normal" sized on me.

Really could care less what a person wears. I wear what I like, including my Panerai 217 at 47mm or DJ.

More pressing things to worry about, like why men wear short shorts.

As long as it makes the person wearing it happy, then that's all that matters

LOL!! I do know.

I've been seeing the opposite side of this argument on Panerai boards. I know there are movement snobs, but now both sides big and small are becoming size snobs.

on a similar note - what do you think of this new trend of women wearing 36-40mm watches?

I hope that these gentlemen (women?) don't see these, and if they do, I don't mean serious offense, just IMHO:

This is a wrist that can pull off an enormous watch:

Even Orlando Bloom looks OK with a Big Pilot:

It's when the watch extends over the width of your wrist that it becomes comical.

depends on the size of her wrist. I can't fault a woman for wearing an oversized watch because women have so few choices. Men, OTH, have far more options.

Exactly...why can people criticize big cars and big things, yet enormous watches that are too big for the wrist are OK? Seems like a double standard to me.

I don't see a major problem with a 40mm Explorer on a small 6.5" wrist, but when a person with a 6.5" wrist consistently buys only watches that are 44-47mm in size, I wonder if there are psychological complexes at work here.

Does your number of dashes coincide with number of letters? I think that's what's throwing me. What's a 4-letter word for pee-pee?

I think I had about 14 or 15 other terms for the same thing in my head, but none had four letters!

Well, you also need to consider the "face" and "hands."

But you know, none of that matters - size, face, movement, hands - if it's running too fast.

So I assume that "perpetual" is a good thing, and "watertight" is an added bonus?
Shaking it to keep it going would make perfect sense......gha

case size is obviously personal preference. i've been thinking about adding a pam to my collection but can't seem to get used to a 44 because i'm so used to all of my 40's. i think once i find the right model i'll be able to adapt.

anyone else transition from rolex 40's to pam 44's?
