Apparently this watch has generated a lot of interest and they have had many enquiries. Oh well, more time to save up I suppose...
Aaaagh! I rang up LK at lunchtime today, they said they haven't seen one yet, but are hoping to get one in perhaps in the next few weeks.

I've left a message with the Hour Glass that they give me call as soon as one comes in so I can check it out!

I wonder when we'll see them from our TRF trusted sellers ....

I'm *almost* tempted to order one sight unseen, but I really do want to check out the color before committing to anything.

Then again, I have to ask the question .... how often would I wear it when I'm loving my precious metal models??? I haven't worn or looked at any of my SS models for quite a while .... I think the adage is true ... 'once you go gold, you'll never go back!'

No doubt the trusted sellers will have them soon (I hope...)

Perhaps there's enough platinum in the YM to make it precious? Or semi-precious!?! Then again, that WG Sub is very tempting...

Excellent wrist shot. Is it me, or does the red second hand and red writing seem to pop more against the blue than on the platinum?

I wish JJ was here to see this piece. I'd love to know his opinion.

Congrats!

But I don't know about the red on it...just muddies it up, the contrast is terrible between those two colors.

I think all silver text and white gold hands would have better suited the overall harmony/balance of the watch.

Put my order in a few days ago. Was very relieved to see these pics today, was concerned about the shade of blue...not anymore! Can't wait. Thanks for the pics. If you have a chance, an outdoor shot would be great!

Icon5 Rolesium -- a platinum alloy?

Mucho congrats on the purchase of the new cobalt blue-dialed Yacht-Master. I've worn a SS Submariner for 22 years and running (still never opened or serviced, runs every day), but have seriously considered getting a Yacht-Master for the past several years. The only thing that held me back was my lack of enthusiasm for the platinum-colored dial face. To me, it made the watch just too monochromatic, and I never could pull the trigger. I always wished Rolex would offer a white or blue dial. Now that I've seen pictures of this cobalt blue face, I'm frankly blown away. A true stunner, my dream-come-true watch, and I hope to retire my trusty Sub soon ...

Meanwhile, does anyone here know much about the case material? The initial reporting of this watch said that the Oyster case is apparently made of Rolesium, "an alloy of 904L stainless steel developed by Rolex". Assuming that the bezel is still platinum, are we to conclude that the total platinum content is higher than the standard platinum-dialed/platinum-bezeled Yacht-Master? Does anyone have a link that offers any information on this?

Finally, has anyone heard retail price numbers for this model from US dealers?

I cannot answer your specific case material questions. Some marketing info here: http://www.rolex.com/sites/all/downl...world-2012.pdf

List price in states is: 11,550.

It is an absolutely beyond gorgeous watch. Cannot wait to see in person when AD gets them probably later this month.

Very nice!! Was in my nearby AD a couple of weeks ago and they had not gotten one in yet. The store manager told me Rolex boutiques will get the new Yachtmasters first, followed by first tier dealers. He expects them to be a very in demand item. I can see why!
