Thoughts about these 5513?

Hi mates, I'd like your thoughts about these 5513, only want one without any part from service.

Many thanks for considering my question

Seems like nice examples, but personally I prefer meters first dials
... also there is a crack on the tritium on the hour hands?

Agreed,1st Watch is a no go at that price. If a relume is well done and not passed off as original I don’t have a problem with it,Of course it will impact the price.

First watch is the best example. Dial is decent apart from possible repair around 6 oclock (see minute markers). Not relumed. All parts are period correct (though I cant see crown could be later 702 twin lock). Second watch case is thinner, and insert is not period correct/original to the watch. Definitely pass on that one.

The first dial is damaged and is a no-go. The seller's macros have taken the 3:00 area of the dial out and there is damage there. There's also rust pitting around the dial.

Really? I will take a thinner case and incorrect insert any day over a jacked up Dial.

As a package the first watch is superior from the pics available. I don’t think the dial issues (if there even are any) are that problematic. Would need macros to decide if it was jacked up or not.

We must be seeing different pictures,Almost every lume plot on Watch #1 is chipped...That Watch will be sitting for a long time at that price. The Buyers with Money want perfection and they will wait for it if need be and the Dial condition is #1 on their list.

Both watch dials are sub par. But neither has been relumed. I think considering the dial conditions they are priced appropriately. If someone is in the market for perfection they won’t be looking at either of these examples. But let’s also be real about the fact that these are old watches and very rarely is a piece perfect.

Greg, this is the second thread in a matter of hours I have seen you state a relumed dial as being "not relumed".

People come here for advise that could potentially save them thousands of dollars on possible purchases, or purchases they made thinking all is well.

That dial and hands have been relumed on the first link, without a shadow of a doubt. Many use textured lume when repairing plots and this is clearly not factory.

What makes you think its relumed? I have seen tritium chipping before on MF dials doesn't necessarily mean its a relume. Also MF have a great variety of lume application.. puffy more 3D and also low, thin silk screen look which is what appears on the later. Maybe you can post some pics of dials you know have been relumed for comparison since you seem quite certain.

The guy who did the relume on 1st. dial had had a couple of drinks. Or he's a Parkinson patient.
