Two Tone GMT or Sub

I have fallen in love with two tone. Black dial with gold pops and looks amazing (IMO).

I am deciding between the GMT and Sub (see pic). I have been leaning toward the GMT, but keep thinking that the jubilee bracelet makes the watch a bit too flashy. Saw the two-tone sub and thought it's a little more subtle (less going on with the bezel and oyster being more "sporty". Obviously, both are amazing pieces.

Thoughts?

Is it your first Rolex? Go with Sub, it’s a must have and the best starter. My first rolex was 2 tone sub and still remains my daily.

I would take the sub and put your name on GMT batman or pepsi waitlist

Get the one that matches your lifestyle.

They are each for very different functions.

I don't care for that particular GMT since to me the grey looks washed out but I did see someone else wearing it. The combination is definitely rather stunning!

For me, I'd pick the Sub if it's between those two models.

The Sub looks great. That GMT is not for me.

One thing to consider is that the jubilee will hide scratches and overall wear much better than the oyster.

So if this is a daily wearer, I'd go with the GMT.

Agree.

Now, if they went to the thinner fonts of yester-decades, It wouldn't be so 'in-your-face'.

No, not first Rolex. I have a blue dial, oyster, fluted DJ that I love. Other watch in rotation is a Cartier Santos. I have an older Tag that I've had for years, but hasn't seen any wrist time in forever.

Love them both so it's a really tough choice. I always wanted the two tone Submariner, but now I love the Jubilee Bracelet on the GMT. For me it has to be the Submariner, as that has always been the watch I wanted. I guess you have to decide on which watch you really always wanted. Good Luck.

Dan

Sub in this case. I prefer the all black and less busy bezel on the 2 tone.

My thoughts, exactly. IMO, the black/TT Sub doesn't look as good as the blue/TT Sub "bluesy." I think the black/TT GMT2, especially on jubilee, is pretty snazzy.

I'd need to see that new Guinness bezel in the flesh, but from what I've seen around in pics it's a stunner. I'd have the GMT out of those two.

For me it’s the Sub first then the GMT. I love and enjoy the TT LN daily. Your thoughts on Sub and GMT I agree with and for me it’s a Sub different than my mates. Cheers to enjoying this journey

Both are terrific pieces, hard to say one over the other by a wide margin. I like oyster bracelets on the sport models, but in the pic, that two tone jubilee looks nice. And black/gold is more my style than blue/gold.

I recently picked up a 2020 116613 LN, I love the simplicity of the dial and the two tone takes it up a notch. If I had both before me, both comparable age, condition and price, I might… might go GMT. A definitely maybe, but I love breaking out my TT Sub for special occasions.

It’s often said on here, in this case it’s particularly true - you can not go wrong with either.

Pics of the two tone GMT really don't do it justice. It pops in person.

I’d personally go for the Sub, especially between the two in yellow gold TT.

I use the GMT's two time zone function regularly, so it would be my choice. It's stunning in the flesh, and I'm not really a TT fan.

I'm a big fan of the GMT as well as the jubilee. When I got my BLNR it came on the oyster bracelet with polished center links and when its new it looks great but:
#1 over time the center links start getting scratches
#2 if you live in a place where it can get warm... the center links will always get smudges on them (and that drove me nuts).

I ended up getting a BLRO on jubilee (and I love it) and putting the BLNR on a submariner bracelet (fully brushed). The PCL oyster is my least favorite of the rolex bracelets.

And if you are going TT but worried about flashy its like getting a ferrari and not wanting the red one cause its a little too loud.

GMT all day.

This times 10!

If you don't like flashy, go SS. The GMT jubilee is a gorgeous two tone!! I like the SUB too, but prefer the blue dial. Best of luck in your decision.
