I don’t get it

I hear/read that many folks really dislike the current bracelet for the speedy pro. While changing my nato for the bracelet this weekend, I thought the links are solid, brushed with just a bit of polish. I did a side by side comparison with my 16610 bracelet and the speedy pro certainly feels far more solid. Other than the lack of ability to really fine tune the adjustment, why are people so down on the bracelet?

I didn't know that... I for one, like it. With a half link and the available micro adjustment holes I have managed to adjust it properly to my wrist.

If anything, I think it's a bit heavy. But any bracelet with solid links and a milled clasp will be about the same, so....

It would probably be nice to have a modern interpretation of the 1171, with some tapering, SEL and a modern (milled but not big) clasp, something like the one in the previous 1498 bracelet that was narrower with no push-buttons.

But the current Speedy bracelet is pretty good IMO.

I can reference Fratello’s speedy Tuesday blog for just one example. He is cited commenting on the bracelet and why the speedy Tuesday ultraman was given a nato and not a bracelet.

I happen to like the bacelet myself, but perhaps it’s more the vintage folks preferring older bracelets over the new ones. However I have felt old speedy’s on the old bracelets and they felt rather weak.

I couldn't get a good fit on my bracelet even after adding a micro-ajustable clasp. Big contributer to me Ultimately selling it for a BLNR.

I think the whining all stems from the lack of fine adjustment. It took me two tries to get the correct number of links, the two position micro adjustment holes are not optimal. The bracelet itself is high quality and to me aesthetically pleasing but I’m currently using a strap. I’ve looked into the adjustable clasp conversion at the Omega Boutique but it’s kind of big and I shouldn’t have to drop another $200 into it to make it fit.

That was my issue. I sold my 3570.50 because no matter what I tried I could never adjust the bracelet and I blame the clasp.

I don't hate it, but I think the watch deserves something nicer looking. I like the look of the Oyster bracelet on my current-generation Submariner more.

I put on the adjustable clasp. Worked wonders.

But I hear what you are saying. Without that, it’s tough. But the same can be said for most watches out there in watch world.

Exactly. When I think about adding a Speedy again - it's a classic watch so I cant seem to forget it - the adjustable clasp will be necessary otherwise it will have the same fate.

Same here, I guess I'm the lucky one, the bracelet adjustment fits my wrist perfectly.

My first nice watch was the Sub 114060, and to me the Omega bracelet felt inferior. I loved the Speedmaster though, almost bought it but like others, I just couldn’t get the right fit with the bracelet. Just picked one up today on a leather strap and it’s perfect.

I had adjustment problems with mine until I added a Seamaster half-link. It's perfect now.

My two main issues with it:
1. Lack of adjustability despite really trying
2. Because of the end links it makes the 42mm case wear even bigger which isn’t great if you have a smaller wrist.

So my speedy bracelet stays in a plastic baggy, no big deal. I love swapping leather straps and natos. The speedy pro’s versatility is one reason I love it.

I like the current Speedy bracelet just fine. Sure, the quick adjustment of the Submariners is nice but I've yet to use mine.
