Same shape, maybe different length...service hand should be white (if not relumed) and should react strongly and long the UV lamp...my 2 cent

True, but that’s only if they’re lumi hands. Plenty of service hands were tritium before the late ‘90s.

In those cases, very difficult to tell sometimes. Giveaways can be different patina to dial or a different reaction under UV light compared to original dial.

That depends when the watch was made. Hands on stainless watches older than the mid-'80s were rhodium plated steel. After that they were 18k white gold. You can find gold hands with both tritium and luminova. Service hands could be white gold and tritium but not "correct" for a watch older than the mid-'80s. But, gold won't rust so there's a benefit to the change.

You can if the photos are of high enough quality, at various angles, etc. Getting good photos from a seller isn't always easy, however.

^^^ Good photos can help tell difference, as well as if they are flat (earlier) or curved.

Flat hands is up to around 1966 I believe. Along with the end of the gilt dials.

If nobody can tell the difference, does it matter?
