Icon20 What are the rarest day date?

Dear crazy vintage rolex fans,

I’m in the market for a yellow gold DD, most certainly a 1803.
I’m leaning toward a champagne dial but I’ve seen a significant number of alternatives from pyramid to wood dials.

I would like to ask you if you’re aware about rare variations or combination of this watch?

Thanks

What are the rarest day date?

There is not a particularly rare 1803 series there than pink gold versions being far rarer. There are rarer dials of course. Model like the 1806 and 1811 and 1804 are the rare models from the 1800 series.

A 4 digit ref 1802 smooth bezel (original domed 3mm bezel) with a stella dial and an original rivet oyster bracelet is DD heaven...oh wait, here's one right here!

1803

There is a beautiful one on ebay right now with a chocolate dial. I have not seen that very often.

I would say 1804 is the rarest out of common non quick set day-dates

Excellent watches, gents.
White gold/platinum cases and bracelets are already like hen's teeth, then add rare dials like Stella and Onyx for almost unique pieces, then try to find this combination in rarer models like 1802 and 1807 - practically unobtanium.

I know it’s not a 1803 but I always felt the bloodstone DD was pretty rare

The answers thus far are across the board - but staying close to your original request (1803)... you might consider a wide boy dial in a smoky gold finish (not champagne).

That was mine and despite that it had hands that were replaced with incorrect ones, I think it isn’t often seen.

Rarest? No, but you can see some pretty rare DD’s in this YT....

Shouldn’t that 1st one, the blue dial 18078, be a bark model if that reference number is accurate?

And the 2nd one, the 18038, shouldn’t it be yellow gold, white gold would be 18039? (This one may just be the lighting.)

I have been told the hands on mine make it somewhat rare. I believe they were only used for about a year ~1964.
The 1803 is an amazing watch, and every time I wear mine I find it absolutely comical that people are paying tens of thousands for old beat up dive watches and these things, in relative terms, are dirt cheap!
