Safes
Hello
I am thinking about getting a highquality safe for my watches and Guns. I was looking at Brownsafe.com and they seem to have some really great designs especially the man safe. And for any of the Patek owners they have the Chrons safe which is real badass. Also the weapons safes seem to be of very high quality. Other then these does any one have any other suggestions. Thanks in advance. |

So funny to read this post. I have known Fred Brown for close to 20 years, and have purchased multiple tool/torch resistant vaults from him. If you care to chat, PM me your telephone number and I would be happy to share my experiences with you. I have been in his facility, and can tell you that in my opinion, he definitely knows what he is doing, and makes an excellent product. He is not far from me, thus my surprise to see the post here, asking about him. I know he has done a number of custom installations, including creating entire "vault" rooms, some using old Bank Vault doors.
Best of luck in your search!

I recently had some building work done. One of the tools used was a petrol driven disc cutter (whizzer) with a diamond blade. The thing cut through steel girder and granite without any trouble at all. My safe has a 6mm steel door and will resist prying and drilling but doubt it'd hold out very long to someone truely detemined with the right tools.
Best advice would be to securely mount to floor and wall (chemical anchors) so cannot easily be removed. Put it in a discrete place or disguise as something else (eg false bookcase). Fitting it in a confined space will also make it very difficult to remove or manipulate tools eg a crowbar. |

Check out a company by the name of sturdy safe. I agree with the idea of a "bookcase" and would also add that whoever delivers your safe does it in an unmarked truck and covers the safe during your delivery. Nothing screams to someone scouting your place that you have valuables more than seeing acme safe all over a truck in front of your house.

Looked up sturdy safe looks good like the prices. One funny thing though they say bewRe of gimmicks, but then they have a picture of a attractive woman by the safes, as if that makes the safe better.

Wow a little weird. At least it wasn't her half naked she looked decent.
But still I don't think any woman should be used to sell things the product should sell itself. It's a bit disrespectful to woman to be treated like that. But let's not start that conversation. Butets talk about safes any other suggestions. Last edited by Tools; 12 May 2011 at 02:12 AM.. |

Listen to the Craigster. He is the only first-class safe technician that I have ever seen on this forum.
When he talks safe sex, he's the man.

The safe itself is a lot less important than the fact that it is bolted down correctly. Thieves will only want to spend so much time at a location and if they cant find a safe or wheel the safe out on a dolly, then it will be....safe. |

I recommend that you have two safes. A good, very hidden safe and a lame home safe. If you ever have a home invasion, you can show them to the lame safe and its contents, while the good stuff remains hidden and unknown.

I have a Liberty as well. It's a "Lincoln series" and I have been real happy with it.

Are you looking for a RSC or a TL rated safe? I own a Sturdy Safe RSC for my firearms and watches. Great RSC for the price. As others have said keep it out of sight or at least inconspicuous and be sure to bolt it to the ground.
TL-15 or TL-30 will run you a substantial sum but might be worth the investment if you have a large/valuable collection. |
