My first Rolex...kind of

So my love of watches began in 2011 when I bought a TAG Heuer Carrera. That quickly led to a fondness for Omegas of which I went through the following watches:

Omega Seamaster GMT "Great White" (Sold)
Omega Planet Ocean 2500 (Still own)
Omega Aqua Terra 2500 (Sold)
Sinn 656L (Sold)
Omega Speedmaster (Sold)
Omega SMP-C Blue (Sold)
Omega Skyfall AT 41.5mm (Still own)
Panerai PAM 512 (Still own)

Early last year my dad finally decided he was going to get a luxury watch and bought a blue stick dial Rolex DJII with the smooth bezel. He absolutely loved the watch. Unfortunately, he passed away suddenly last year and I inherited his watch. Needless to say it's far more than a watch to me, but I really began to appreciate the quality of the watch and soon found myself wanting another Rolex.

Well, this week with the help of Takuya I bought a Rolex Submariner 114060. At first I was thinking about saving for a Daytona, then I was thinking maybe a Batman GMT, no maybe a black bezel GMT, or what about a Sub, hmm, date or no date. In the end I decided to get the most classically styled Rolex I could think of and voila...

I'm really loving this watch and hopefully some day (a long time from now) my (future) son will inherit it and wear it proudly.

Deepest regrets for your father.

Congrats on the 114060. A true modern classic. The DJ II is also a fantastic reference. May you wear both, and especially the DJ II in the best of health.

Congratulations and condolences. Obviously your father was a man of good taste as the DJII blue stick is my favorite as well. I had a SubC but prefer the 14060 for my smallish 6.5 in. wrist.
