Icon20 Would You Buy A Gold Panerai? If so which model?

I really love the look of a gold panerai. But I see prices all over the place. Which is a safe model to buy?

not very popular in forums, but, clearly, there is demand outside of watch forums, as OP has been making them for a long time and continues to roll out new models.

PM Panerai's are nice to look at but take a huge beating in the second hand market. A friend had a 231 and paid a nice sum for it even though it was preowned. He did not know that the straps for the regular SS Panerai's did not work with the gold buckles and in the end his conclusion, and mine, is Panerai does not really do PM. It is an add on. When it came time to sell the watch he could not find many dealers who had any interest in the watch. He took a bath and regretted the purchase. I would stick with a line that does PM the best. Rolex.

No. Great watches in SS. Horrible residual value if combined with precious metals or extreme complications.

I've always thought that the concept of a tourbillon Panerai was the perfect oxymoron.

Buy it right going in and you won't take a huge hit if you sell it later.

yes, but not at list..

all gold watches take a huge hit on trade in, personally i like the contrast of a tool watch in precious metal along with a high tech modern movement inside an old case design, it's like singer porsche and eagle e-type all the beauty of the original form but with a twist

the 376 pictured above is the best looking california dial , the softness of the silver of the white gold and the grey dial is beautiful, panerai white gold isn't plated so won't wear though

i have a 379 which is the classic rad in pink gold, weirdly these really didn't sell but are slowly increasing in value

I also have a 319 in pink gold again, which is an amazing movement and is a beast

finally i have a red gold 398 as part of the 399/398 package which along with the rads makes a great dress watch

Icon6 Yes, PAM 231 is one I have admired from afar.

Nice, simple gold timepiece.

AMAZING selection of gold pams you have!

Really love the 319. Wasn't even aware of the 379 - it's like a gold 232? Sweet!!

Panerai and PM go together like oil and water, in my opinion. If you want PM, I'd go to another brand.

Personally if I am going to go with a gold Panerai I wouldn't go with a Luminor. I would stick to a Radiomir or Radiomir 1940's.

Thanks

Beautiful and classy in the gold. But do not buy it as an "investment or to flip it". Buy it because you LOVE the look. You will take the worst financial hit if you are looking to flip it. Better in that case to buy a gold rolex. Guaranteed to get most of your money back.

I think the 677 could be my first PM PAM. Will have to give it a good look when they arrive.

Nope. There's a very limited resale market for them and I flip watches regularly.

Definitely! I have not had one yet, but I would like to try one. Buying preowned will yield a great deal....

Rose gold radiomir would be great, but not luminor. Radiomir wears very dressy so rose gold version will be perfect. But price wise, I would not. I would add a little and go for everose daytona maybe.
