Hallo,
I do have the 116500 WD brand new, got an offer to swap my watch +1-2k € for a ROC 26320ST.OO.1220ST.02. White Not quit sure, maybe sell the Rolex and buy not the latest edition of ROC? Opinions please :) |

Depending on the rest of your collection....I may want to swap a Daytona for an AP.

Not a bad deal financially...though I'd push for a straight swap. I haven't paid much attention to the AP market lately, but I think the ROCs are relatively easy to get for the price of what the NIB white dial 116500s are listing for on secondary market.
If the other party won't do it and you still want the ROC instead, I'd think you could sell the 116500 and put that cash into the ROC. |

Thank for the response. I do believe the AP has a higher second market price.
Furterhmore, does anyone know what is the better watch in terms of robustness, value (at least staying at the same price), appreciation, horolologicness (AP uses F.P Caliber/ Rolex own) Scratches, Service costs etc. I was able to find a comparison between the AP ROC and the old 116520, so .... what is with the 116500 ? Kind regards |

if stickered that daytona is worth 16-17k.
it should be an even swap IMO http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=502649

Its an even swap. So pretty much it comes down to which you want to wear. I would go with the AP ROC.

I prefer ROC WD, but in terms of robustness heard rumors every 4 years service, and bezel scratches easily etc. (Anyone experience, is it possible to change the WD to a Blue one)
I am gonna contact the guy maybe he is willing to trade 1:1. |

Then maybe speak to Orologeria Bodoni in Torino....they were great when I dealt with them a few months ago.

I'd keep the Daytona, more robust and durable and it will hold value better. For an AP chrono I much prefer the 44mm ROO which I def would trade towards.

The Daytona has got to be more reliable and robust than any AP.

Although I don't own a ceramic daytona, I do own a AP15400 and have also tried on the AP Royal Oak Chrono version as well.
I do believe that Rolexes do provide better bang for your buck as they are priced much lower than APs, but in terms of the finishing on the watches, I would say it would be damn hard for Rolex to compete with the unbelievable finishing on the APs. If I were you, I would take advantage of the hyped up demand of the ceratonas and would trade your watch for an AP chrono. The price for the daytonas are eventually going to fall back to the MSRP in a couple of years, whereas the RO would not. |

As nice as the Daytona is, I prefer the ROC.
A couple of years ago I traded my white 116520 for a blue dial ROC and never looked back.

Seems like the 116500 is losing average 1k a month premium, I think once holidays are out of the way and Basel on the horizon, Rolex seems to be ramping up production on these& all these lists with 2 year waits will quickly accelerate to the inevitable price of MSRP, so the people on lists which I'm quite sure is 80% flippers will pass when they get the call because from a profit they will be looking at a loss. My is around March the 500 will be more available and at MSRP. So if you want to maximize your trade I would do it know familiar with other watch companies and availability but this probably
to do that transaction from a financially standpoint if you want it. Regards Nick |
