Steve, still feeling for you and your loss. I really hope you're doing better. It's good to see you post. Hope it's not inappropriate to express my concern.

Working on it! My life changed in an instant... It's now about a horse. Maybe a trip in the future. Only just starting to even look at other watches apart from my submariner.. |

The Most Important Watch in the Collection.
And.
The single most important watch in my collection. One not mentioned before. My wife's Rolex. |

Happy to see you Steve, I was actually thinking about sending you a PM this weekend to see how you were getting along. Good to know that you're hanging in there.

Steve - I just read this thread and really appreciate all you've shared and found it fascinating. The only problem is now I'm craving adventure (and an Explorer II)!

Wow... just wow. Came upon this thread from your thread about your wife. Thank you for sharing your love story with strangers and please accept my belated condolences. Your post reminds me to "love deeper" and "speak sweeter" as the words to a country song goes- this was not something I expected to find on a watch forum. Going to embrace my lady right now and remind her that I love her. You're spreading a lot of good will brother. Keep up the great work and I look forward to reading about your new adventures.

Yes, truly great to have you back, Steve. It's morning here in Hong Kong and I have my day off. My youngest daughter is laying on my chest sleeping, so I decided that instead of also taking some very much needed rest, I'll start reading this thread again from the beginning. I'm so glad I did. It's still, IMHO, the best one on this fabulous forum. So much inspiration, and wonderful posts from people all over the world. I confess, I got a bit emotional at times.
Again, thank you for sharing this with us. Stay strong! /Joe

It's had that effect on many of us, myself included.

Just spent the last hour and a half reading this thread. I cannot think of a better way to have spent my Saturday evening. This thread is better than a good book; it had it all.

Steve
Wow. Just read this thread start to finish. Thank you so much for hanging in there and sharing your quite amazing experiences. This may well be one of the best threads I've ever read on any brand specific forum. May I also take this opportunity to say that I was truly sorry to read of your tragic loss. Hopefully the hoses will give you a new and fulfilling purpose. I never really "got" the Explorer II. Always thought I wanted one but chose a sub date over the explorer II when I bought my first new Rolex in 2000. Having read this thread and looked into the history in more detail I get it now. I can see a black dialled Exp II on my wrist at some point. As a question for you, leaving aside the new vs old question, which would you chose - a 5 digit ref or a six digit ref? I'm not a fan of huge watches but 41 mm is ok on me. Cheers. |

Brilliant.
All the best Steve through this expedition without the aide of a proper map. :

I've been lurking here for over 6 years now, and I've never really felt compelled to post.
Until now. Thank you for sharing, Steve. I hope the present is treating you well. And a much deserved bump for anyone that hasn't read this thread in the past. It's worth the read, start to finish. |
