1675 Question - New to me owner

Hello everyone,

I have been perusing these forums for the last couple months and first off want to say thank you for all of the insight and knowledge on here. My father recently passed away and left me with my Grandfathers 1675/3 and his 1675. I have two questions pertaining to the 1675/3. First off, one of the pins on the clasp of the band is broken and I am wondering if anyone knows where to source one of the replacement pins. (Cant seem to find the correct term for the pin, its what attaches the folding part of the band to the clasp). The band is also heavily stretched. I have done some research and found Michael Young. The occasional bad review and the fact he is in Hong Kong has me a little spooked. Does anyone have any input as to his work, or what the best avenue is for repairing the band or sourcing a replacement (less inclined to do this but open to thoughts).

Thank you in advance and a Happy New Year to everyone!

I am sorry for your loss. Welcome to TRF, those are beauties. I have heard GREAT things about Michael; most from US members; I would go that route for the bracelet.

OP, sorry for your loss. Perhaps posting in the vintage section may yield better results.

Welcome to the Forum and sorry to hear about your loss.
You have two routes, purchase another bracelet which could run you $400-700+, or send the original to MY and pay about $200. Which would leave you with the original band worn by your grandfather.
If you notice the watch is losing/gaining time, you may also want to get it serviced...
I particularly like the combination of the brown strap. Wear for bit while it is getting fixed properly and then you have a second option. If you try to spend a few bucks here and there to get the bracelet fixed up, you might as well go the route to get it all done at once.. You will not be disappointed!
Here is mine, saying hello!

Thank you for the input. Beautiful fellow rootbeer! Where did you find that leather band?

The broken pin is just a 16mm spring bar. Any watchmaker can source.

Sorry for your loss and welcome to TRF. Those are two beautiful watches specially the rootbeer with nipple dial. X2 for sending the band to Michael Young, keep it as original as possible.

It's actually alligator, not leather.
Stumbled upon it on the For Sale section of a forum..

I've sent several bracelets to Michael Young, the most difficult part of the procedure last time was explaining to my Postmaster that yes I wanted to insure two old used steel watch bracelets for $800. He was...hmmm, choice of words...gobsmacked. I find people can accept the watches are rather pricey but any layman handed a 7986 to examine and then told the price will probably give you the same expression as I saw at the post office.

MY did a perfect restoration job of course. Highly recommended!
