Can the lumes be restored?
I've been looking at this sub for a while. I bought a watch from the seller before as we both live nearby. The watch looks cool except the lumes have some smokey spots, and the hands look a bit beat. Can the lumes be cleaned up and how much would it cost to replace the hands?

That watch has seen better days. I'd just keep looking for a cleaner example.

You could have the dial relumed with a modern (non-tritium) material, but that would really ruin the vintage appeal and value I think.

I like it. Those small spots don't bother me. I wouldn't mess with that dial.

The price is not crazy & the watch does have some appeal
Although the insert is a later replacement the dial & hands don't bother me that much either. If the seller was asking 8K I'd say walk away but matte dial 5513 are hard to find at this price point even with flaws.

The top guys can relume hands and match them perfectly, visually you would have a nice product but of course not original

That is the appeal of a vintage watch. They are not perfect anymore and has accumulated wear and tear from years of Faithfully providing the correct time for its previous owners. Just leave the watch as it is.
