What would you do in my situation
Hi guys,
Sorry for all my posts recently, I'm just after some advice. Im a young adult and currently own these pieces. Tudor BB blue (ETA) Rolex GMT BLNR JLC Reverso Grande Ultra Thin. Im also buying a daytona ceramic ss white dial soon (on the list and been told I will have it soon). Here is my question though, if I don't buy it I have £17K ($22K) to spend on watches. I could get the DaytonaC SS but I could instead get an Omega Moonwatch and Daytona Everose Leather strap or Omega Moonwatch and AP Royal Oak All for the same price or even less. Just wanting to know what you would do in my position. I like buying smart, so far in this hobby I have actually lost no money, infact I have made quite a bit. I would like this to continue, but getting involved with the daytonas worry me a bit. The SS will decrease in value as time goes on and the ridiculously high demand falls right? And the everose although I love it, is a PM watch, and I know PM isn't best for holding value. Thanks guys.

Are you buying the Daytona C on the grey market or at the AD?
If you're buying at list then there's always a strong demand for the SS Daytona Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I'd go Daytona in steel. It's a great piece and if you come to flip it you'll be ok. PM on the 2nd hand market seems to always take a bit of a hit.

I would get the DaytonaC (if from an AD at retail) and be done with it.
Also you can save (or flip JLC) for an Omega Moontwatch. |

If you can easily pick up a DaytonaC now from an AD at list.....do it.

Are you serious?
You do of course realize you could purchase the Daytona flip it straight away and make quite a lot of money that you could then purchase your other faves with??? Or just keep it - I guess it will be a long time before you would get back less than you pay the AD. There will be a hundred people on this forum in the UK who are not dealers (myself included) that would drive to your location at the drop of a hat to make you a tidy profit |

Yes the money from flipping the daytonaC is what would fund the rose gold and moon watch. I guess the general vibe is to keep the ss

Only you know if you prefer the alternatives you mention.
To me, there would be no dilemma. |

I'm in a similar situation here, you're 2 years younger than I am so good job so far haha
I'd say buy the Daytona and flip it, you're making enough to get on the list for a Patek or buy the Royal oak. Beware of PM, it might look odd at our young age.. When keeping the daytona you are saying no to a couple of thousand dollars, so better make sure the daytona is really what you want to have

I just got a Daytona C (black dial) and am absolutely in love. My wife keeps subtly urging me to flip it and pocket the cash, but life is just too short. You should wear what you like; if you prefer the Daytona C, do that. If you prefer the Everrose, do that, even if the PMs go down in value.

I would buy the SS Daytona-C and wear it and enjoy it. It is the most in demand Rolex in a long time and I believe it will hold it's value if you are paying retail at an AD. I would look at flipping the JLC for the Moon watch.

If you are going to keep it, buy the one you like best Pearson.
If you are going to flip it as suggested by others then do as you please. To go on the list for a DaytonaC just to sell it for a profit is not doing any favours for those who would like to buy and wear one at list.

That leaves you £7,900 to "spend on watches" If you've got £17,000 in total, buy the Daytona C, and if you don't like it you can flip it for a £3k or more profit, giving you £20k to spend on watches. PS, you'll not get an everose daytona on a strap + a moon watch new from an AD for £17,000. Not even close. You'll struggle to get those two in new or mint condition from a grey market seller too for that money.
