I absolutely love the YM blue dial. But it is definitely a huge price difference

I'd wait til Basel. I expect a blue dial Datejust 41 in stainless steel. You could also get it on the Jubilee bracelet which would add diversity to your collection. If by some weird chance they don't release the Datejust 41 in stainless, you can re-examine your options.

An OP 116000 36 (like mine) is quite neat and comfortably practical.....

For whatever reason I am not a big fan of the Blue YM. I'm not sure why though. I bought my wife the platinum dial for her birthday and REALLY like the Basel '16 models that came out. I just don't seem to be able to get on board with the blue dial. That said I have not seen one in person so it may change when I do.

To which end I personally would go for the DJ. OR, as others have said look at the Milgauss Blue - I saw one in the wild and it looked fantastic.

I would also definitely wait to see what is revealed at Basel too.

My favorite DD40. But way out of my price range.

Out of the two options you gave, I like the YM much better, although I feel like a DJ would balance the collection out a bit more...but maybe you need to buy the YM and then save for a dressier piece

I love this! But would prefer the thinner sticks of the DJ41.

Go with the DJ. Adds something a little more dressy to your collection.

Congratulations. I just saw this thread and would have recommended the YM. Though both candidates were perfectly fine choices, I noticed you posted the YM picture first, and seemed to focus on it a bit more...suggesting that it grabbed your heart, while your appreciation of the DJ had a lot to do with an intellectual consideration: Shouldn't I go with something other than a sports watch, when I already have a couple of those?

That sounded to me like your head talking, more than your heart, and I'm a firm believer in listening to your heart on such matters. In the long run, I think it brings greater satisfaction.

As it happens, you now have a collection of fine sports watches.

Enjoy them!

I just bought a blue ym from SDWatches and it is stunning in person. The pictures don't do it justice. Traded my no-date sub-c with no regrets as the ym fits my small wrist better, still has the triplock crown, along with the stunning dark blue dial with red accents. I wish the date was red as well, but I will keep it original for now. I miss my sub-c, but still have the grail 16618 which comes out occasionally.
