Recommended Resurants in Washington D.C.
Rebel Daughter and myself, she's 50% going and I'm at 99% have a GTG with my Nephew/son her cousin/brother coming up really soon and need help. He lives in Alexandria, Va
I figure maybe hop the train to Washington since it's so close unless there're are options in Alexandria for any really nice restaurant. Doesn't matter what type of resturant. Please send suggestions for a weekend place that's not to crazy crowded. I'm shipping 2 bottles of Olive Oil that he's never had and my daughter hasn't seen him in like 3-4 years so I want it to be special. We'll do a watch shot as he has a nice 16750 polar, so nice in fact I should've kept it He's a Marine who just recently transferd from Charlotte to Washington D.C.. Someplace special would be nice. Also do they have corkage available in Washington D.C. Resturants ? I don't want a disaster like McAllen which turned out sooo good. One day that story will surface. Then next day we head to New York as we really need to go by 911 memorial. It's important for both of us.

Mark,
I would recommend the following: BLT Steak for a nice steak Tortino Restaurant - Italian, small place with really good food. Del Friscos is ok. I didn't have the best service as I sat at the bar area. But the steak was good. Cedar - American food. Good lunch place. Here is my post when I first had to go to DC for business. there are some other nice restaurants listed. https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...dc+restaurants Have a nice time. Please post some pics of the 911 Memorial in NYC. I need to get out there to see it. |

Anyone heard of that ? In D.C. I'll have to check out the menu

Not sure if it's too late for this--try Founding Farmers at 1924 Pennsylvania Avenue NW. Call for reservation.

Mark,
I'm happy to help but you need to give us some better guidance. Do you a high-end place? Modern? French? Italian? Indian? Spanish? Meat or fish? Local specialties? Budget? There are slew of really good restaurants in DC, many of them are listed here https://www.washingtonian.com/2017/0...taurants-2017/ I wouldn't go for steak, because some of the best steaks I ever had was in Brasil, so I doubt you would be impressed. If you must, I'd skip the stodgy steakhouses and go to Rural Society on 15t Street and M Street, NW (inside the Loews Madison Hotel) which has some of the best parilla in town, not cheap though, $40-50 for a piece of meat with no sides. |

I have to cancel his suggestion of resturant Prime Rib due to mandatory jacket for men. I'm on casual trip not business.
So seafood with steak is what im looking for, if you have anything Please suggest. I rarely order meat when out but seafood I'll go for. Last time I had meat was in McAllen at Santa Fe Steak House, and that was an American wagu rib eye cut. Very good. But I like the option of seafood too. Gerardo would know what kind of meat was ordered in McAllen. That pastry wrapped twice baked potato Danny ordered was so good too. Sole, sea bass, salmon, Ono anything ocean is fine. You know what I really want is crabs from the Chesapeake Bay cooked in Old Bay. But their probably out of season I have dress jeans only to wear

It is an old neighborhood dive located directly south of the Iwo Jima Memorial, up the hill. I would make reservations and pre-order how many crabs you want. It is located right next to Ft. Myers, you can come in shorts and flip-flops if you want. I also recommend the steamed shrimp prepared with Old Bay Space or the Crabcakes as well. Add Coleslaw and beer. Little to no tourists. http://davwudsfoodcourt.blogspot.com...bapalooza.html You can easily take the Metro from Alexandria and get off at the Rosslyn station, but it will be quite the walk. I'd say take an Uber or Lyft from Alexandria there and back. Enjoy! |

Excellent suggestion. So your saying Quarterdeck would be good for crab, right ???? Maybe a great lunch choice for the next day. Sounds very good with beer. I may try that. Although I'm getting in at 11an Friday and leaving Saturday afternoon to NY. I might try to sneak that in. I've got dinner narrowed down to 2 with the help of a TRF member who lives there. EDIT: Quarterdeck said to call Saturday Morning to see if they received their crabs for the day. Sounds good. Hope they get the large ones

If we are talking Crabs you have to go to the Crab Claw in St. Michaels.

Blue Duck Tavern is one of my favorite restaurants in DC. Try the bone marrow and walk in from the hotel lobby to pass through the kitchen. It's a really nice setting as well.
I've celebrated a couple special occasions at Fig & Olive at City Center. Solid place, but a little expensive for what it is. Whenever my dad comes to town, we always go to Fogo de Chao for our steak fix. Not unique to DC but never disappoints. I haven't been to BLT steak, but like Del Frisco's and Capital Grille (again, neither unique to DC if thats what you're looking for). Hope this helps!
