UK Discounts
I've decided to buy a new SS GMT II ceramic for my 40th birthday to add to my SS Date-just I got as an engagement present in 1992 which I wear daily. My local AD in Scotland has told me there is no chance of a discount on this model (list is £4360) but could give 3 years 0% interest free credit instead. Whilst the credit is worth several hundred pounds, should I push for a discount or are they right when the say there's no chance of getting on?

unfortunately there is no discount on SS sports watches.
The best case would be the free credit offer from them. Unless you fancy a trip outside the uk (and EU) to save on tax/vat. |

The best chance would be interest free or a token discount (5% would be an excellent discount from a standard AD). Alternatively, the Signet Card route is another path to follow to get 10% off

Another option that could save you even more is to bid on the bay for Signet vouchers. The higher value vouchers can save you lots of money. You can use them at Ernest Jones to buy your Rolex.

Your other option is to buy from a pre-owned dealer - there are many well established dealers in the Uk who will be able to supply you with either a new or pre-owned GMTii-C - I have seen 1-2 year old models going for £3500 which represents a good saving. If you would like the details of any of the dealers that I have previously used then just drop me a PM.
Good luck with your search |

R Lui - Goldsmiths are the AD that runs the 0% 3 year interest deal, its fairly good as you can get a sub for around £80 per month, great if you havent got £3740 lying around!!

Are you sure Goldsmiths do finance on Rolex over three years?
I was told by a buddy they advertise this, but Rolex is not included.....all other watches are. You can get better deals on GMT IIc from independent UK shops IMO |

http://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/informat...IFC-_-13072009 but max 24 months for in store only see here; http://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/informat...=null&coid=221 and as Rolex are not allowed to be sold online 24 months it should be. Looks like your friend got an even better deal. |

Can you recommend any independants close to Glasgow or not too far afield? A new GMT IIc is my target! Thanks. |

I was offered a 10% discount on a new GMTc (for cash) from Jamieson and Carry, Union Street, Aberdeen about 2 months ago.
I am a regular customer and have bought several Rolex watches from them over a 20 year period, so that may have come into the equation. Never the less, it was a good deal and I wasnt expecting such an offer. If you are thinking about contacting them, please drop me a PM and I can furnish you the details of the Director whom I deal with there. Good luck. Colin. PS. the GMTc is a lovely watch though..... |

A few problems.
The Rolex Rep was in Scotland a few weeks ago and let it be known that a price increase was all but guaranteed before the end of the year. In addition the Submariner LV and the Seadweller have now been officially discontinued.
Whilst the latter two rumours are well known the price increase is generally (we hope) thought of as a joke. But the AD's suspect it is true and don't want to offer a discount if they can potentially make loads more by keeping their stock for a few weeks, why would they accept a low ball offer now. That having been said, if you know where to look and how to pay..................Discounts-R-us. Rolexroz |

The Submariner LV has not been 'officially discontinued' to my knowledge. Rolex has never said that.

Some employers let you purchase Signet (ie Ernest Jones) vouchers at 15% discount... so for example for £100 you only pay £85.
I did this recently and managed a 31% discount including the 16% that I negotiated with them on a YG for my wife. |
