Fake buckle on a Day-Date
The buckle is stamped ACIER INOX and then twice stamped (18k).
The 18K stamps are crooked. (When does Rolex allow anything on their products to be crooked?) Seller says it's 18K and is the original. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=170997423783 Funny. Last edited by LAFlyer; 30 September 2014 at 03:44 PM.. Reason: spelling |

Seller went out of his/her way to declare authenticity.
Shame.... It's so clearly bogus. |

Not to mention that acier translates to steel and inox to stainless.
I looked that up a while back.

The legitimate 18K buckle ---- Curve ball
The legitimate 18K buckle usually has "750" and "Swiss Made".
I saw one for sale that had "750" , "Swiss Made" and "ROLEXSA" on the back. Not sure bout the authenticity, but they wanted $900.00. More info: I used to think that anything on a Rolex that looked gold was solid gold. Rolex threw a curve ball into the mix as far as these buckles are concerned: They produced a large number of GOLD PLATED buckles. Those legit, gold plated Rolex buckles are marked "Swiss Made" and "PLAQUE". (Never ACIER INOX) A legitimate Rolex SS buckle has the "ACIER INOX" stamp. Sometimes these genuine STAINLESS buckles are gold-plated in the 'aftermarket'. So there are a huge number of gold-plate buckles... Some are legit, some are Rolex SS that are 'afterplated' and most, by far, are fakes. Hope this helps. Last edited by LAFlyer; 1 October 2014 at 09:42 AM.. Reason: spelling and clarification |
