The Unofficial Black Bay Bronze Patina Thread!

From a suggestion on the thread about the Hodinkee article on the BBBronze patina, I thought it would be interesting for owners to post pics of these watches over time to see how they change.

Mine is exactly one week old, and it has been on my wrist daily in that week. It might just be the initial infatuation, but I think I'm going to have a hard time going back to the other watches in my collection. I switched it to the NATO after the second day, mostly because the distressed leather strap is virtually identical to the one I wear on my Panerai 111 and it was reminding me too much of that watch. The NATO is just too cool on the Bronze. For the record, the watch is running -8 seconds after a week, which is more than accurate enough for me.

It's a bit hard to tell, but I think the watch looks slightly greener than it did initially, and the edges of the crown look darker to me.

This is the watch the day I picked it up:

Here are the pics after a week:

In Houston it should patina quick with that humidity.

The watch looks great. I look forward to see how the watch bronzes up as time goes by.

This watch is definitely growing on me. I really like the Arabic 3,6 and 9. I was thinking about a new Tudor Black Bay Red for my next watch, but might have a hard time deciding between it and the Bronze. Excellent photos, by the way.

For anyone concerned about the 43mm size being too big, and I was one of them, it's a non-issue and wears pretty much like the 41mm BB's. It might even wear better because the proportions are slightly better. The 41mm BB's are chunkier (height relative to width/lugs).

I really like the look of the bronze, might have to visit the AD to see how it looks on the wrist.

Thanks for sharing all of the pics of this one. I think this is going to be a great thread. I agree with Adam that the straps are great. I think both suit it really well

Thanks for the pics. Is the bronze turning your wrist black?

That'd be something potential buyers might like to see photos of. How badly does it stain your wrist, and for how long? I'm assuming once the patina is well developed the staining should stop.

I doubt he is kidding. Bronze had that effect on skin. This is from a non Tudor bronze watch I wear somewhat often. It washes off easily but I'd generally from the crown. Hence the reason the case backs and bracelets are materials other than the bronze like the case.

Yes, I have heard that it does stop after a while.

I was under assumption the SS caseback and aluminum bronze case would mitigate that with this watch.

On a very hot day we had a while ago I had two dark spots very similar to the above photo! You can just make out a dark patch on the underside of the buckle in my photo. It has not happened since as all it has been doing is raining.

maybe good for rheumatism , nearly a copper bracelet , makes it medical , thus free from taxes , or a tax write off.

Been wearing mine for over a week, no staining on my arm.

Caveat: Most of that time has been on a NATO.
