Just received email notification the bezel insert is being replaced under warranty. Will post pics upon receipt. Hopefully no one else has this issue.

Good news

Okay, I can report that after I really stressed the watch, no defects are visible so far. The Bronze was dipped for more than two weeks into the sea, pool and shower and further exposed to the hot sun. I even took it scuba diving , no problems observed. Am I allowed to post an instagram link here?

That watch looks huge on some of those wrists. You guys got smaller wrists or is it the camera angle? I only say something because I'm looking at this watch but have yet to try i at the AD.

Sorry if I missed it...how do you change out from the NATO to the leather straps? I'd imagine you could do this yourself, but does it come with a tool to perform this task?

Spectacular! Remarkable colours and very individual...

Can you tell me where you sourced your NATO from? That's exactly what I am looking for for my root beer!

Back from RSC, new bezel insert with no cost. Looks perfect, though I swear it has less patina then when it left. Definitely not refinished, but some of the verdigris that was in the coin bezel and crown is gone. Wonder if it got a wipe down or a wash after the fix. Either way, very happy with the service.

It's a long watch. My wrist is just under 6.5," and admittedly the watch wears (probably) a little too big. That said, it's comfy and I'm still enjoying it!

You're on your own re: strap changes. The case has lug holes, but they are very small, to the point none of my tools fit. I ended up sacrificing one of my wife's earrings for the cause

Took delivery of mine this afternoon. Has anyone tried to accelerate the patina? I did a liver of sulfur treatment on my Helson Shark Diver Bronze, and it came out really good. Not as excited about dropping my Tudor into that stinky solution. And no, I don't care if the patina is natural, etc. I'm the impatient type 😁

I just took delivery of my new Black Bay Bronze--Thanks DavidSW.

Other than the earring trick, can anyone recommend the proper tool to remove the spring bars? As has been noted, drilled lug holes are ridiculously small.

Thanks.

Ha, had mine delivered from DavidSW yesterday. I took off my strap to do a liver of sulfur treatment. I used a push pin tool that I have. I'm not sure I like drilled lugs because you have no control over the spring bar when it comes out the other side. On a couple of lugs the bar caused a small nick when it came out. I prefer just to use a spring bar tool and guide the bar out. Next time I'll tape the side where the bar comes out when pushing through the lug.

As far as my liver of sulfur treatment, it definitely darkened the color. Kind of a copper shiny hue. Hoping the shiny decreases with time.

Might have to get a prescription for one of these. Maybe my health insurance will cover it.

Here's mine. First photo from day 1, second is 4 weeks later. Worn everyday in that period and patina is developing nicely. Seems very even to me but I haven't gotten it wet during that time. No green/black marks on my wrist but the British weather hasn't caused me to sweat either so that may have helped. Supplied straps are on the small side. My wrist is 8" and they are just about useable with an additional hole punched.

Keeping the Bronze as it is ?

According to a jewellery restaurateur it's very easy to seal the bronze and therefore keep it's current look by using Renaissance Wax. Seems to be not visible; downside can be that you can not take the wax off anymore. So once treated, no patina possible anymore.
I am really in doubt; I do love the new look but also some pics (but not all) of the patina occurring on this gorgeous watch.

Would really to hear opinions
Thanks

I wouldn't even consider that. Watch looks a hell of a lot better with a little patina.

Purchased on 18 December.

Pics are from about 5 minutes ago (damn photobucket).

The bronze is slowly aging. I have done no special tricks other than wearing it everyday and sometimes when I sleep.

I shot a few pics this morning, and noticed that out in the sun the patina my bronze is taking on is hard to see, so I took a few more in the house. I'm really enjoying this watch, and it seems to get a lot of attention from watch guys.

This is a fascinating thread. I'm eager to see how these watches look over time. Frankly I like the appearance of a pristine looking watch and don't get the patina business, especially if it discolors your wrist, but many people seem to love it. Incidentally do these watches have the "bronze smell" to them?

Any detergent will strip the wax off, so if you did seal it you could change your mind later.

William and Joseph, looks like your Bronzes are darkening subtly and nicely. I think it's hard to tell for certain with online photos, but they do appear somewhat darker than when new!
