How to make this vintage OP right?
I have a watch from my great grandfather and even though it was "restored" by a Rolex AD ten years ago I would like to try and make it right as I do not believe the dial and the hands are correct.
What would be the best way to go about this? Can I send it directly to Rolex? I know there is a $500 minimum fee if it has to go all way to Switzerland (if RSC in Texas doesn't have the parts). |

Here is a better picture of the watch. It is a 6248.

Looks in beautiful condition, the crown looks brand new. The dial has been refinished but it's an original dial, not too sure about the red second hand but it looks good.
Why do you feel the need to change it? It's your grandfather's watch, that's how he liked it and that's how he wore it. At least think about it, I think the originality fetish goes to far once you get out of the big dollar collectibles and certainly for an heirloom that was loved by your gf just like it is. |

If the dial is original why does it not say "SWISS" on the bottom? Also compared to other examples I can find the Lume on the hands is thicker and I cannot find one with a second hand in the same color or even shape.
My understanding is that the watch had a white dial at one point...don't know if that is true or not. There are some pretty sad watch stories in my family like my my great uncle melting down Pateks years ago for their gold value. |

It's a repainted (refinished) original dial, thought I'd made that clear, perhaps not. It's your watch, do what you like!

Leave it as it is, get the movement serviced by a watchmaker and enjoy you Grandpa's watch.
