Views on this 1969 , 1601
Hi , would really appreciate your views on this vintage 1601, its a watch I have my heart set on but a couple of things concern me
1. The condition of the movement and rotor, is that corrosion / water damage 2. The 20 date doesnt look right on the dial Would appreciate your experienced views and of course any other things you can spot |

That is corrosion, too much for my tastes. There are much better to be had.
This is what you want to see... Zero corrosion and spotless movement. Oldest 1968, newest 1991, no need for a crappy movement. |

The case corrosion is a larger concern for me.
Movement parts can be cleaned and replaced (at a cost of course) but that mid case is not one I'd want to buy. I'd rather have over polished and solid than un-polished and corroded. |

Looked fine. Check with Mike Wood and/or Haywood Milton, world class dealers in your neck of the woods.

The 20 font looks OK to me... But (and this may be the crystal) it looks like the date wheel got wet as some point so it probably needs to be replaced.

I totally agree! The movement isn't that bad but that case would need a lot of work and laser welding to even get it back to decent shape. It definitely won't be water resistant in that condition and will allow moisture into the case! If you can get it extremely cheap then ok but if not I would keep looking to find a cleaner model.
