They are great nibs. A own a couple of Pelikan nibs and a Platinum modified by him and you can tell the difference from the standard fare.

Remember the total staff at Nakaya is four old farts. They have not been behind in decades; it's just the kids that are in too big a rush.

It's just a rumor. But with the popularity of these rising I would not doubt it.
We'll see.

The issue with Nakaya and Yard-o-Led and a few other similar companies is also partly their strength. Because they are a small, select group of individuals doing what the really love (if you ever get a chance there is a YouTube video about Nakaya that includes pictures of half of the staff watching a video from the US made by one of the Pen Posse groups. Their sheer joy at seeing people use and appreciate the pens is like kids watching their parents open presents) which means care and also institutional knowledge. But they are old. And I'm not sure the next generation is being trained to take their places, particularly on short notice. If anything happened to even one of the Nakaya folk the whole operation would simply stop.

There are 439 Nakaya pens at Classic Fountain Pens. Iguana Sell carry another significant inventory. And then there are a number of other brands selling urushi and maki-e pens. I think there'll luckily be urushi pens in the market for quite some time.
