Vacation Thoughts...

Folks,

First world problem, which watch to take to Maui for a 9 day vacation? Home timezone is 6 hour difference from HI.

BLNR or Sub C/Date?

Sub C Date seems at home in a tropical setting.

I'd go BLNR - I've taken my Fat Lady to Maui a couple of times - use the GMT hand for AZ time for work calls when I'm on "vacation".

I've wore my old BLNR twice to Jamaica and wore it on the beach and in the ocean. No issues.

I wore my BLNR in Maui. I think something without PCLs is better for the water and dealing with sun tan lotion etc.

I found the easy link to be great when going from hot to A/C cooled rooms. You can't go wrong either way. I would take both...if I had a sub.

There is a nice AD in Wailea!

I choose the Sub as I recently took my SubC no date to Maui last month and wore it every day in the ocean, in the sand, out to dinner, etc. and it was perfect in every occasion.

Just booked a sandals trip to Antigua for me and the wife. I am most likely swimming and relaxing with my blnr. Either choices are great. Take the one that you will most enjoy wearing and not worrying about.

Why would there be issues?

I'll be going there for my honeymoon in November. I'm between the LV and the BLNR. I live in NJ so it's nice to have the travel reference, but Hawaii screams Submariner in so far as the local activities.

I choose Sub. I am kinda partial since that is what I bought in Maui. Remember, the tax rate there is only 4%. Go to the shops at Wilea and check out what they have in stock if you are possibly looking for a new one too.

Sub C Date is my FAVORITE watch to bring to Hawaii, my 116610LV fits in perfectly with the lush Hawaiian landscape..!

You know how some around here are. They hear the words sand and salt water and they freak out.

One poster mentioned that PCL bracelet may not be good because of suntan lotion. Why would this be an issue. I used soap and clean water back in the hotel room and it was fine.

The AD there in Wilea told me to drop by before our flight and he would steam it and get it cleaned up after being in the ocean. He has customers do that all the time with no issues to their watches.

I'd say Sub. Of course, there is an AD at Whalers Village, so come with 1, leave with 2.
