If the manufacturing process has moved forward in this time frame and Rolex are now capable of nailing the colours right where they want them, would they risk releasing a Coke bezel that could upstage the Pepsi with respect to its depth of colour tone?

If they can, and they do, would they modify the current white gold Pepsi with a newer, more 'improved' colour tone bezel?
they weren't trying to be faithful to the "original" colors of the aluminium bezels. the bakelite gmt came way before and is the true original. this is what the blro reflects more closely.

I know jazz is all abstract and stuff, but it might be better to use a full sentence or two to explain yourself. Are you saying the original GMT bezel inserts were made of plexiglass?

If they release it with a dark red I'll be in trouble.

While the use of unicorn's blood was groundbreaking in making the BLRO's bezel, I've heard that Rolex has uncovered a vast reserve of darker, dire wolf's blood for the Coke bezel, so they should be in good shape.

Yes i think they were made of Bakelite which is a kind of resin thermo plastic, much the same as plexi glass, then coloured from behind.
There are others on here that know more about it than i do. The 2 tone ceramics are a bit of a hit and a miss for Rolex, they admit they waste more than they keep.
True jazz is melodic and harmonic and stems from the blues.

If Rolex ever does go back to translucent overlays of their bezels, I've got to believe they will be sapphire, like what is seen with the previous-gen IWC Aquatimer, or the Blancpain FF. I don't imagine Rolex would be taking a step back to the days of plexi or Bakelite.

IWC and Blancpain hit homeruns with the sapphire bezels.

They're pretty nice. Great lume, and the potential for much better saturation of colors than with ceramic. But I wonder if Rolex would feel like they're imitating the other companies by going that direction. And/or maybe they're too invested in the manufacturing infrastructure of ceramic to be putting money into sapphire inserts. I don't hold out much hope we'll see them on any GMTs any time soon, but I'd love to be wrong. A Coke with a sapphire bezel would be amazing.
