No love for the 5726?

I very rarely see anybody with a 5726. I think the dial is more filled out and interesting than the 5711, which makes it more appealing to me. I would also find the extra complications very useful. Are there known problems with the 5726 movement that makes people stay away? Or is it simply that it's more expensive and therefore has a much smaller market?


I've been considering some sort of Nautilus variation for some time, and I keep coming back to the 5726 as the one that I like the most.

Price has nothing to do with it in my opinion. I think it just comes down to aesthetics and most find the other nautili more pleasing.

I prefer the 11 and 12, somehow the dial layout doesn't work for me on this.

I like it in white....my AD actually gets a lower allocation of these versus the 5711

The 5726 is a great watch! It is priced higher than the 5711/5712, so for people looking for their first or second Patek, they typically don't consider the 5726. For most people, an AC doesn't come into the picture until their 3rd or 4th Patek. A chronograph is a more popular complication than the AC.

If Patek introduced a blue dial 5726, then it may be a different story

I'm a fan, and owned one for a while. Ended up deciding the $$$ was better used in some other pieces. If I had more money than I do, it'd have stuck around. But I don't so I need to be more selective and hang on to things I love.

I've moved from a 5164 to a 5167 and a 5726 to 5711, so backwards from what most people do. I've found I just enjoy the simpler, more flat versions at this point, and am lucky in that they don't cost as much.

My biggest attraction to the 5726 was the moon phase. Not a useful complication for me, but one I do like to look at. Same with the 5712.

The annual calendar is great. I'm not a fan of 24hr indicators, but really the dark dial is what deters me from this particular model.

To me 5726 is a watch that in general is the perfect Target for the guy that never has had a Patek and is trying to like them and pick this watch because it clicks various boxes. By buying one Patek you get the famous and beautiful Nautilus design, its sporty but yet you also get a calendar with moonphase complications that are arguably the more recognizable complications in the Patek world.

But for the season collector, he rather have that in 2 different watches. He will get a better representation with calendar and moonphase complications that is not a Nautilus and a Nautilus that comes across in a more sporty way , that after all that is what a Nautilus tries to portray.
In other words 5726 is like a Jack of all trades, master of none that rarely stays in the stable of the Patek wis collector.

Of course this is a General assumption , because if you truly love the watch and have the appreciation for what it is then disregard all my comments and buy the watch with no further delay.

Like it. Owned the white, let it go. Really liked the size too compared to the 5980/90 models. AD's get considerably less 5726 than other nautilus models. I also really dig the strap model, sporty elegant with the brown strap.

This. It's actually one of the hardest models to get in now which is rather funny given its history with the grey dial on strap being rather common. They may also discontinue it next year, which would be interesting to watch where the values go.

Not in my case. I've had a PP perpetual for a number of years, but not a Naut.

For me, it was simply the perfect Naut.

A while back I read an article on Watchville (forgot whom by) that came to the conclusion that the Rolex Daytona was the watch (one) would keep if one had to give up all others...I feel that way about the 5726. I would say that the 5980 is "cooler" and the 5711 is "cleaner" looking than the 5726...however;

It's compliction is very useful to me (I often attempt to unplug from my phone), it's complication was actually designed by Patek (historically correct), it's dial is perfectly symmetrical (pleasing to me most days), It's sturdy for almost any reasonable activity (golf, swimming, light outdoor sports with kids), water resistant for my needs (120m exceeds my activities), steel (doesn't threaten anyone like a gold watch) and is relatively light and the iconic design of Genta in proper modern proportions. The price point is perfect for me to risk it and wear alot (relative to other watches).

The 5726 is my 'go-to' and 'safe for any occasion' watch. It pairs well with T-shirt/jeans and a suit. If I travel and only want one watch -it's this one. I like that it often flys under the radar in public but is very well made and 'complicated'.

I would absolutly be falling over myself to get to Tiffany if Patek ever offered this watch in gold or platinum.

I know that I am in the minority of the watch world on the 5726...much like the 5960/1A (which I think is a great value of a watch for Patek) - and that part is a little bit fun too.

Am about to pick up a new 5726/1A in London.
Chose it over 5712, due to symmetry. Would have preffered traditional blue dial, but atleast it's SS. Saying that - the white dial really brings a different dynamic.
Will be My first Patek wristwatch. My true love is Rolex.
Would love to see a perpetual Nautilus. Disappointed with Patek's 40th offering.
Yesterday phoned JazTime in CA re a new 5980. Phoned some hours later & a different chap said yeah some guy called earlier. My dealer's put his price up.
The watch is still the old enticement price on Chrono24 & he's listed as a trusted trader! Very dishonest sales tactic. Just saying.

Typically we see Annual Calendars (and Perpetual Calendars) on dress watches and chronographs on sports watches.

In a way, Patek strayed away from traditional style in designing an AC Nautilus (5726). It is a great "bang for the buck" watch to have an AC housed in a Nautilus case.

However others may choose a simpler Nautilus (5711) and a separate more traditional AC dress watch (5146/5396/5205).

I really like the watch, but also have mixed feelings.

This is the watch that I have been closest to buying, without buying.

Pros:
- The Nautilus that has the best proportions - better than the 5711 and 5980/5990 IMO
- Very versatile - grey more conservative, white more fresh

Cons:
- The in-between character - not really a sports watch, not really a dress watch

My first PP was / is my 5726. JorgeCCW hit the nail on the head. It checked a lot of boxes, plus I prefer sports watches. I think mine is here to stay.

It's one of my favorites. A bit past my budget but the size is just perfect. Wears like a gmt Rolex.

It's overlooked just like the 5396 but I find them to be some of Pateks best looking pieces.

personally i think it looks amazing and well balanced dial; however, it doesn't get much love by the collectors. i think it's probably due to the price tag vs. the base 5711 model, but if this one launches new blue dial, then i guess it might be another killer watch that the collectors want.
