5726a w/rubber b strap or 5164

Hello guys, I am thinking about purchase my very first patek, and I like both nautilus and aquanaut collections. Here's my opinion:
5167(X)-- I think it is a little bit too simple, plus one of my best friends has it, don't wanna wear the same one.
5711(X)-- I love the simplicity and the history behind it, but the waiting list is up to five years, way too long for me.
In addition,my dad says if you wanna buy patek, don't buy the plain one without any functions. It is famous thanks to its complexity.
5712(X)-- Never a fan of it, as an art student, I really dislike the asymmetrical layout.
5164-- I like the dual time and the rubber strap.
5726-- I like the layout, and think AC is one of the most useful designs.
5980(X)-- My favorite watch all time, but it is discontinued...
5990-- It looks a little bit too crowded, which is a little bit hard to read. Also, the waiting list is about 2 years. But my father wants me to get this one.

I am thinking about get 5726A w/ rubber b strap or 5726 1A or 5164, I love both rubber strap and bracelet, but I heard nautilus' s bracelet is easy to get scratched. Is it true?

In addition, I can get a 10 percent of on 5726a, 35514 usd, and 5164, 29500 usd , are they good prices?

What do you guys think? Thank you so much!!!!

I like the 5164 a lot but if the 5980 is your dream watch I'd hunt around for a mint condition one.

While this is a watch discussion forum and everyone has their own opinions I'll voice mine...first off congrats ahead of time on your first Patek as it's a wonderful accomplishment. I'm embarking on the same as well in the next month. I do have to say, however, our tastes and opinions are rather different. 1) it would not matter to me if a friend had the same Patek as having a 5167 is exclusive enough and both of you are in good company. Most of my friends think my BLNR is the coolest thing ever. 2) as for waiting 5 years for a 5711, you're either not doing your due diligence or you dont really want it. I spent an afternoon calling all the Patek ADs in the country and was able to secure one with a deposit and I'll be taking delivery within months. This is all just my .02 but in the fun of the forum felt I should voice. Happy hunting!

Like Neil said, if the 5980 is your dream watch, I'm sure you can find one in mint condition with a bit of research.

Of those choices however, I personally like the 5990.

As the others have said, go find a 5980, they are out there.

Otherwise, I'd say with your criteria go for the 5726 on bracelet, with the rubber as an option. The Nautilus bracelet is one of my favorites, in terms of comfort and appearance, and I have not found them to scratch easily...though I wear them mainly in the office.

As for the 5711, can't say I'd pass over that one based on what your dad said. I skipped over it for years, and just finally picked one up after having a a few others. If you get the chance, check it out in the metal and get on a list...you may find you want one in 5 years and at least you'll have already gotten the clock ticking on it.

I agree with the advice to look for a 5980, as that seems to be what you really want. Between the 5726 and 5164, I'd definitely go aquanaut travel time

Wait for Basel! 20th anniversary for the aquanaut. Maybe we get lucky and they give us an aquanaut chrono! Would be so appropriate putting a sporty comp in their sportiest offering.

Maybe I'm just dreaming lol 😂

My gut says Aquanaut 20th will be handled like the Nautilus 40 -- with something special after Basel, but your guess is as good as mine.

What do you guys think about 59601a? Im considering this piece as well. But personally, I don't like the white dial and the bracelet.

Love it. Just swap the bracelet for a leather strap. The dial is much cooler in person if you haven't seen it

I think for your first (and only Patek, at least for a couple of months) go for the 5726
