It may be marketing, but I bought the watch because I like the way it looks (and should keep much of its value). For what it's worth, I'm on my AD's list for a Daytona and I don't know of a reason for me to have a chronograph function...

Don't feel bad, you asked a question, that's what forums are for. Congratulations on the new watch I am sure you are going to love it.

You're not the first who has raised this issue. Stick around and sooner or later you'll hear another concerned owner with a new GMT. Congratulations on yours. Enjoy

No dramas mate, we all make mistakes at least the watch isn't broken!

I once sold a Sub to someone who paid in advance but wanted to collect in person, when they came to collect and I handed them the watch to inspect, the comment I got back was

'The second hand isn't running does it need a battery change already'

I didn't know what to say...

I explained to them they had purchased a 4K automatic watch and it requires winding to get it started, the purchase was via a watch forum so assumed they knew what they were buying

Don"t be silly, glad you are comfortable enough asking these guys questions, and honestly, I had no idea the GMT worked that way either, pretty slick.
Enjoy the new watch

DO NOT FEEL BAD

I had NO idea of the GMT function on my first Rolex - it was only after reading the forums and learning I got to grips with it all :)

No worries...the cost we'll charge you is pictures of your watch being shared within this thread. Also, with only 5 posts, you can easily start over with a new account

Glad to see some others already jumping in saying don't worry about it...and I think they're right. Just be prepared for some comments in jest for a bit, and you'll be good.

I can also say I have no real reason for a chrono feature...the things I time can more easily be done using a dive watch bezel... but I have one anyway. Daytona just looks so good on my wrist

In the mean time, enjoy the GMT!

Congrats on your watch! Yeah, definitely don't feel bad. Totally reasonable mistake. My dad just bought a BLNR because he loves the way it looks. He has no need or interest in the actual function of the GMT hand.

There are some good YouTube videos on setting and using the GMT complication. There are a few different ways you can use it for 2 or 3 time zones. It's actually one of the more complicated watches to set and use, in my opinion.

The online manual on the Rolex site is really well made, with interactions.
You should have a look :

I think you can track 3 time zones if needed and if your lost in the Mojave desert it will tell which way is north too.

Seriously

Enjoy your BLNR. The GMTc is the best all-rounder, IMHO.

Trust me, the vast majority of Rolex owners, Including the members here, never use these watches for their designated purposes -- racing, diving, spelunking, world travel... we're all James Bond wannabes.

I had to watch a Youtube video to learn how to set my GMT. Is that being dense?

Some people learn better visually.
Rolex might consider making their own video for owner training based on model type.

If it makes you feel better, there was a thread on another forum where the OP thought the lume was "broken" on his brand new BLNR. He didn't realize that it needed to be exposed to light in order for it to glow. Enjoy the new watch and congrats.

LOL! I have a similar story. A co-worker brought back his new Rolex to the AD cause it ran out of battery and stopped working.

Had a boss once... he and his wife got Rolexes and shortly thereafter took a vacation and didn't take their new Rolexes. When they came back 2 weeks later to find their watches not running they had a fit. A threatening to sue the AD and Rolex fit (he was a tad big for his britches). With much embarrassment and a serious case of foot in mouth they learned a critical piece of info about how their watches operate. Point is it's better you came here and asked than blowing up at the guy you bought it from. Enjoy your watch, great choice.
