You own a camera store?

Time to get some D300s and D3s in there.

Hey, Tex.... you are going to love the D300. I still have my D200 (which I still think is a great camera), but have added the D300. The high ISO/ low noise is great! Cheers, Bill P.

I have a Nikon D70 and an Evolt E500. They are both great cameras, but I am most impressed with my Nikon. I have a JVC Everio camera which a HDD camcorder to be exact, it's great and replaced by hi8 Sony.... soon time to move on to High Def.

Canon G9. My son-in-law is a photographer in the sports world and told me a lot of the guys are actually using this camera now as their primary tool.

I'm adding one next week - found a second-hand Seiko-Epson RD-1. I'm giddy with anticipation.

It was the first digital "M" - before the M8. 1.5X crop, Sony sensor (very similar to the D70 imager).

Nikon D80, I took a few camera classes and I love my camera so much more than my P&S super zoom sony's.

I also have a Sony DSC-H1, a DSC-H9, and a few other but smaller sonys.

Buz, how're you liking the G9? I'm seriously considering this as a portable alternative to my SLR

I love it. It's a great little camera with macro, raw and the ability to change lens even though it's not an SLR. In the predigital days I lugged around slr's and gadget bags and was looking for a camera to eliminate all that. There are a number of folks on this forum who have the G9 and all seem very happy. I would definitely recommend it. Here's an unedited example of macro setting and a neophyte operator.

Thanks Buz. The shot turned out great. You bought yours for the same reasons I'm shopping one. On trips when I want to enjoy myself to the max, I don't want to lug around the 40D and all the lenses. The G9 seems to be the best of both worlds. You have the manual control and high image quality of an SLR plus the portability of a compact.

Thanks for the input.

Just added a new Body

added a D3 to a D300 and a D2Hs

Pretty slick if you ask me...

I loaded it with ...

A couple of quick 14-24 captures at a local Starbucks this evening, I just bought this combo this afternoon.

Very nice combo.

I look back and wondered if I made the right decision on getting the d300 and the 24-70mm. For another $1500, I could have gotten the D3 instead. I guess I just have to wait for the next generation.

I feel somewhat the same about my D80 purchase of last year. Had I waited a bit... D300. At times like this, I remind myself that it's the photographer, not the camera... High ISO performance is very useful though. You've already got that in your corner. Working on the "mind's eye" is more difficult. In many cases, it's luck and lighting. Especially outdoor shots...

I just received my D300 a few weeks ago and am very impressed with it. At times I wonder if I should have spent the extra money for the D3, but I think for what I use it for it was a good purchase!

The D300 is a heck of a camera but the D3 is something else all together... This said the D300 wowed me and the D3 WoWeD even more.

I've been using my D70s for a few years now. I might pick up a D200 and wait for the D3 to come down in price. The EOS-5d has been on my radar as well- FF is money.

Thanks for including a link to your gallery. You've got an incredible collection of photographs that are a pleasure to view. Wonderful subjects, composition and technically gorgeous. That's a great camera you work with, but I imagine you would take stunning pictures with just about anything you had available. The camera is nothing more than a tool.

It is certainly refreshing to see in a time when it seems most people on the internet have camera gear fetishes where they are consumed with talking about and buying the newest camera or lens as if that is all that stands in the way of those iconic images and producing little more than bland snapshots.
