They had a silver dial OP41 in the case at my local AD. I should be picking up the blue stick dial DJ36 sometime in November. I didn’t really get the chance to check out the new OP but it does look sharp!

Well - I got mine (silver OP41 that is) . I went to the AD January 20 and got the call in October 20 (last week). Initially I was on the waitlist for the white dial OP39 but that is no more...

So I'm hoping after this OP41 I'll be able to acquire a GMT Master 2 on a Jubilee and a no date Sub in the far future. Then I'm hoping to get a solid gold dress watch. But the journey of a thousand miles starts with a single waitlist.
We have the exact same watch goals

I think it really depends on your particular AD and the market you're in. Sounds like you've got the right idea as far as setting your own expectations... enjoy what you currently have and don't count the days (like I have been doing ) that way, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Great choice btw!

Thanks for the input and kudos. I’d like to think I have some taste in things.

I’m not stressed at all about waiting. It really doesn’t bother me. It’s a weird scenario but I try and make the best of it. I’m following releases of other brands that excite me just as much or more than Rolex. So I’m sort of just sitting here with my saved up kitty of watch money waiting for someone to take it.

I’m leaning towards a Grand Seiko 2021 Spring Drive release. Either an updated GMT or Diver or everyday Heritage collection. I really want one of their new Hi-Beat watches as well. I’m curious what Omega will come out with after their 8000-9000 series movements too. If they have some amazing new 10,000 METAS monster in a super clean new Aquaterra or Globemaster I’d be very interested. I love their pie pan dials. But I digress.

A new Sub or OP would be alright. At the end of the day I want to try a lot of different stuff and I learn a ton about everything I try.

What are these ADs in Toronto?

Update: Talked to AD today. He said Rolex is allocating him more pieces than ever before but there is even greater demand than ever before. Can't keep anything in stock including Datejusts. Expected wait for an OP41 or Submariner is 1+ years unless something changes. I think he said there were 16 on the list for even the Seadweller and that he only got a few of those a year.

So for those who were curious I think it agrees with other posts people have made showing Rolex sales numbers. They are shipping and selling more pieces every year including this year. Demand is just higher than ever and there's a lot more disposable income at the higher levels. Perfect storm for Rolex sales.

I'll stay on the waitlist and if I get a call for a submariner or OP41 I'd likely still get one. I'm planning on buying a Grand Seiko or Vacheron Constantin for my first luxury everyday sports watch at this point. If I get a smooth bezel time only style dress/casual watch I'll take myself off the list for the OP41.

Quick update: Sorry to the 12 who voted for October! Still on, "the list"

In the Spring of 2020 the AD offered me a TT Daytona, Blue Dial Milgauss, TT GMT II and a few Datejusts. Now they said they can't keep anything in stock. Everyone is buying like crazy to build a relationship for Cermits, White Dial Daytonas and 2021 models. I think people are hoping they can spend $100k now and land a 2021 piece that can be flipped for a $10-$20k profit like Cermits were this year.

The wait continues!

Crazy how hot the OPs are! My AD said they are only expecting 1 turquoise op between now and the end of the year.

I think it’s the right size and right price. People see other basic Rolex selling for $10-$15K+ and $5700 feels like a great way to get a Crown on the wrist. Sort of like when Mercedes came out with the A class and BMW with their 1 series.

At least some sleazy AD didn't ask you buy your girlfriend some diamond earrings to get bumped up the list.

I wouldn’t do that. I’m perfectly happy waiting my turn and buying other brands in the meantime. I’m not Rolex crazy overall. They’re sort of like a 3rd or 4th choice to me in my price range.

My AD gave an estimated wait time of 1 to 2 months for the OP41 silver dial variant. Put my name down last week, no deposit.

Ding Ding Ding. Got the call Friday, picked it up Saturday. So we've got 30 winners who guessed correctly!

I'll have a review soon to follow.

Local AD says that 4-8 weeks. Unfortunately 41mm was way too big my wrist (6 3/4 inches).

Sounds weird given the fact that the lug to lug is around 47mm. Maybe you like small watches!

Congrats OP!!

Thanks. These OPs are supposed to be common and entry level. I don't think anyone expected them to be a waitlist item. I suspect we will see many of them in the market in the coming years.

They really should have been offered with a Jubilee bracelet.

Congrats OP!!
Unfortunately I did not take the picture. However, here is my OP 36mm. The lugs fit quite a nice as you can see. With OP41 lugs were too much over my wrist. It did not fit nicely and also the dial looked huge. Maybe my wrist’s shape is ”high”.

And goliat: AD was Lahden Kellokeskus.

First reply and accurate prediction. ;)

I was offered Silver twice. I have passed both times. Just not feeling the double batons... but it’s a nice piece. Congrats.
