I think anytime anyone becomes educated in something and is a fan of something they become "discerning" in that particular thing. And a bit of a snob.

As to the criteria in the OP post, I'm a watch snob but I don't necessarily buy into that particular criteria. So I'm a snob in that as well.

It depends on how it is defined. I would say no.

Depends how you define it. A watch snob can be someone who thinks a $300 Seiko SKX is more of a watch guy's dive watch than a Rolex Sub (and loves to tell everyone) or thinks that a Tuna is better than a Deep Sea because it doesn't "need" an HEV because it's better built. If it's just posturing about price/brand, that would just make you a regular snob.

I do believe this may be the reverse watch snob you refer to.

Sorry, you gave it away when you said Lange.

Seriously though, pride and ego probably create snobbery. And everyone has it.

There is some snobbery in everyone about something, from their cooking, gardening, lawn, spelling, punctuation, clothes, phone, phone etiquette, cars, BBQ, etc etc and all the stuff we buy and/or take pride in.

Just another human attribute that we sometimes need to monitor in ourselves.

I actually saw a guy with the absolute dumbest model of G-Shock that is available. What a moron. My G-Shock is far better thought out and is solar powered. Just sayin'.

i think it's not an easy no. i know i don't "judge" since everyone can be in the crosshairs.
but i certainly don't buy/wear anything less than 4k at the moment. and i do admire a lot of people's watches regardless of brand - hey if it looks good it looks good.
