1803 What's wrong here ?

This is listed on C24, just curious what causes this ?

If you are talking about the day window, it could be just a simple adjustment needed, although it could be something more serious. Hard to know from one photo. It's a little strange that there is a spot on the date wheel that is completely blank.

Have you asked the seller?

No I have not asked the seller, I have no interest. I have never seen a blank date spot ?? Can those wheels become stripped and the gears not mesh correctly ? Just learning, surprised it was listed this way.

Oh and it looks like the Y has rubbed off the word Oyster { hand rub } I guess

When I tried to “quick set” the date at the end of Sept. the alignment of the date and day windows got out of whack but adjusted itself after the first 24 hours.

Seems odd they’d post that photo if the watch has a similar issue to mine.

Sometimes my day switches slowly and could be in between for a bit. But the blank date puzzles me. And I am surprised it's listed like that

The date and day change should be nearly instantaneous. There could be a myriad of reasons why the disks are stuck/getting stuck, including: an issue with the day/date wheels such as bent or broken teeth or accumulation of dirt, or an issue with the day/date mechanism such as incorrect assembly or incorrect oiling procedure (I have seen this on occasion).

From memory I believe there is a point at which the date blanks our when you are manually setting the 1803.

Laughable. I would not go near it.

Yes. When you're winding the crown backward to set the day, a blank part momentarily covers the date wheel as the day flips over (not sure what it is, TBH - maybe a watchmaker can chime in). Looks like that's the moment that's been captured here. Seems perfectly normal.

I'd be more concerned that the seller doesn't even how to photograph a watch, never mind verify, evaluate or sell one. That's a deal-breaking flag before you even look at anything else.

Looking at the day and date wheels shows the problem clearly. The day wheel has cutouts for the date window so if the day wheel is at the wrong angle it will lead to the date window being obscured.

Excellent illustration. I did think it was a part of the day wheel covering the date, but I couldn't figure out why you can't then see the day passing through the date window as it turns.

Your pics show it perfectly - the day text is farther toward the edge than the date window.
