Can't see the photos since I don't click on random links, but congrats on the watch, it's clear that you love it!

Its a serif dial, not a Maxi mk1, so you got a franken watch....
Serif dials ended in 1975, someone put his together.... too bad...

BTW here's my Maxi MK1, (a real one)

I know.... service hands and bezel and a totally worn bracelet.
It will all be fixed over time...
but at least the dial and case match up.

Looks a little bit like the dial I have in my watch, which I have been told is a service dial

If you're not used to judging by the size of the lume plots, just look at the alignment of "=" to the right of the "A". Or the middle line of the "E". Not Maxi.

My question is how the OP knows that it is from 1979. Maybe the whole watch is a legit serif. Please note that I have not seen the photos, so if the serial number is shown between the lugs, then that would answer my question. However, maybe we won't be hearing from the OP again.

Just catching up on all these comments, I'm assured by the legit watchmaker I bought it from, the watch is a a Maxi Dial, here's a snippet from the original Advert on the company page
never been overhauled nor serviced with no screwdriver marks or signs internal screws have been removed Serial Number: 5686xxx. 40mm case size. Sporadic use only. Tritium maxi dial

Because I have the full papers & receipt

Buddy. Sorry but this Is not a maxi dial.

Maxi mk1 is the only maxi version where the depth rating is above the submariner text. And this is categorically not a maxi mk1.

All other Maxis (2/3/4/5) have submariner above the depth rating.

Its also not a pre comex dial because the ‘=‘ should be to the left of the A, yours is to the right hand side

I believe you have a non serif dial, which should sit in a case with ‘serial numbers beginning in the early/mid 2.0 million range up until about 1973 consistent with cases stamped in the late 3.0 million range to early 4.0 million range’.

So something is very wrong here. I would 100% go back to the seller and ask for an explanation.
