Icon14 Collectible Competition: Hulk vs Kermit (40mm)

Hi

Which one do you think will be more collectible timepiece in the future:

Hulk 40mm or Kermit 40mm

Can please provide some rationales and justifications?

Thank you

There were a lot more LVCs made over it’s longer production run it would seem, but then the population of watch fans has probably more than doubled.
When the dust settles, I think the 16610LV will be the more collectible.
As for which is prettier, well that’s easy, the LVC.

Hulk by a landslide. It was the first (and for now only) green sub. The original will always be a unicorn now.

I think the 16610 LV Y or F series will always be worth more than the LVC but being the only sub with a green dial will also hold it's value.

Each have their own charm
For collectibility purpose, the original MK I kermit for sure is the one!
Shorter run
Marks the sub’s 50th anniversary
A lot less around
Has the charm of the 5 digit aluminum bezel insert

16610LV is the 50th Anniversary Sub, LVc is not. But LVc is the first all green Sub so it is special there. Both are collectibles but imo the 16610LV will still be the most sought after.

I personally prefer the hulk, but I can’t imagine the kermit won’t be the more “collectible” watch—so many fewer kermits out there.

The Hulk, look at how the dial “pops” compared to the new release. Being a discontinued highly cult like Rolex, I believe they will only continue to go up in value.

The 126610LV will be more collectable due to rarity if Rolex stopped producing them today. It is also the mechanically superior watch. But in the end it always boils down to supply and demand.

16610LV - green bezel/maxidial
116610LV - green bezel/green dial

Both far more collectible. Not even close.

The new CERMIT is not unique. Just a sub w green bezel.

"Mechanically superior" is your subjective opinion. It has not even been in production long enough to stand the test of time. The 3135 likely has been around longer than many on this forum have been on the Earth.

I think 16610LV will continue to pick up ground. In my opinion (besides the flat 4) it’s really undervalued.

Kermit over the Hulk, but I think the current LV is the best of the lot. Black dial with ceramic bezel has broader appeal than the prior iterations.

Depends on the timeline probably. In 30 years it will probably be the Air King because there will be so few in the wild.

Or the 39 MM Explorer without the lumed numerals everyone hated for its short hands - because it’s ‘so rare’ - can imagine the ad listings now.

The relative scarcity of the watches right now won’t change the fact that there are a ton of these watches made. The aluminum Kermit maybe, doubt that any of the other SS ceramic subs actually have a lot of long term ‘collectibility’ compared to rare references of the past.
