Rolex Moonphase 50535 discount

Hello everyone, first time starting a thread. So, I absolutely love that Rolex 50535 Moonphase. My local AD tells me they have one in stock and is willing to give me a 10% discount. Is this adequate or should I be asking for a deeper discount? I know we live in different times with all the Rolex SS’s draughts but what is a reasonable discount from an AD?

Nice watch but way overpriced in my opinion. At that price range there are a lot of dress watches in play. If you want the Cellini I’d be looking for 20-25%. My sense is this is not a hot seller.

Juat for the sake of info. It would be scarce to find. 1 to 2 pcs allotment per AD in 2018.

If you like it, get it. But don't regret it afterwards. Have you considered moonphase watches from other brands like JLC etc?

Personally not a fan of the Rolex Cellini.

Scarcity doesn't always translate desirable. But, it's your decision. Hope everything works out for ya'

Good luck,

Has anyone had any luck getting a discount on this watch? If so how much?

Saw it today and really like it.

Beautiful piece but for Cellini, 25% minimum or no deal.

I was given 10% but still found it expensive. AD would not budge on price.

Yes, I would consider JLC except I get overwhelmed by their selections. Any suggestions?

Get it if you love it and if it's a keeper, since with 10% off, you'll take a huge hit if you flip. Oh, and be sure you don't mind the "moonphase" not being a real/traditional moonphase.

Since you are looking at other suggestions, GP makes a really nice moonphase & AC: Hands-On: The Girard-Perregaux 1966 Full Calendar, Now In Steel (A Kinda-Sorta James Bond Watch) https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/girard-perregaux-1966-full-calendar-steel-hands-on (though you want to buy right with this one, too)

MUT Perpetual Calendar?
http://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/au/e...l/1308470.html

I think it can be had for about $14k USD in SS from greys

Otherwise, a GO Panomatic for something a bit different

Still on the fence. I went to the AD and really had my time with the watch. It is a little bulkier than I expected, a little, but aside from that I really love the watch.

Plus now, with the thread suggestions on other models (thank you for those that responded), I am really investigating other options. The price is a lot = $21k (with discount) and I am so curious what the preowned market will bring. I get the impression that you will be able to purchase this for $15k or $16k. What are you thoughts?

I think Rolex did a great job with the latest Cellinis and I do like them. However, at that price range and style of watches I am more interested in other brands.
Personally, I love the GO style and I went for the PML (in steel though), but I would look also at ALS, JLC, Vacheron, GP, BP etc. This is probably a mental bias, but for me Rolex == Sub,DD,DJ This is what they have been doing for years and this is what they are great at. Surely they can make a great dress watch (and I think they do with the Cellini) but in that space there are many other players that have interesting offering.

I also really like this model but no way would pay the $26k asking price. Good luck with your purchase OP!

Sorry friend, what is the GO style and the PML? Great suggestions and I am also seriously debating my first JLC.

To provide an update to this thread. The best deal I was able to get was $21K with no tax. I still thought it was a little too much. If I would be able to get this for $16 and some, I would have gotten it. Luckily, another AD phoned me and got me the new Pepsi which I love. I would still also love to own this piece in the future.

All my collection is Rolex, with the exception of a dress watch. Which is a JLC RG MUT Moonphase with a diamond bezel. It came in at around $16k with discount from AD in South east Asia. Being a die hard Rolex fanboy I was concerned I would not bond with the JLC, happy to say I did bond with it and spend time just looking st the open back, even today after owning her for 2 years. Stunning piece and imho a step above the Celinni line in way of finish. No regrets :) Goodluck!

For me, I think this is expensive, but I will only get more collectable.

The fact that it is a Cellini AND is a high price means that very few people are buying it. After it’s presumably discontinued, if not remodelled, in 4-7 years time, then a decade or so has passed, people will be after it.

That’s interesting point. Again, the piece is beautiful and I love it but just can’t seem to justify the $24K + asking price.

Thanks Bigsoftee. JLC is at the top of my list but I am leaning for a moon phase reverso. I love those.

I saw a Rolex Moonphase last week in my AD's case..
Luved it..!
Would buy in a sec if I was made of money..
But...for a watch I wouldn't be wearing every day..its just not a practical reality..as its not waterproof..
Here is a vid I made on it..

Flip the Pepsi and use the profit towards the moonphase

I got the Pepsi and would be willing to do an even trade on the moon phase -I would need Box and papers.
