If funds allowed I "might" get another piece but, being honest with myself, I have everything I need in the SD and this one.
Congratulations! It makes great sense and seems a great pair that complement well.

Finally a part of this!

There’s something magical about the van dyke brown dial and the slightly recessed markers that are near impossible on capture through images.

OK, I think this might work. My favorite pair. I sold my 114060 to get the Explorer, it was a move I am really pleased to have made.

It's now been 3 months with my Explorer now. I can't stop staring at the details of the dial and bracelet. Thought for sure I'd put a strap on it by now.

I thought same. After more than a year still rocking the Oyster. Still thinking about a decent suede strap though.

Had mine on a B&S black leather yesterday, looked and felt pretty sweet. I will say, I did miss the weight of the bracelet.

best example of a vintage Exp. ever

Nikanarani
That is by far the coolest Explorer I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately as much as I like my 214270 MKII it will never look as neat as that.

Thank you sir.

Unfortunately, my wife stole it off my wrist and I haven't been able to get it back.

My over told story. At age 8 I found a male hero across the ally. It was a refuge from my abusive home. Wally was an outdoorsmen. He wore a Rolex Explorer. Time passes, but not that memory. Family happened, ministry happened, retirement happened and the memory stayed, but the dream of owning an Explorer did. This Father’s Day, son gifted me a new 214270! Yeah, I cried. Now I am in the club. When I took said watch to local AD (that charged me BTW....lol) to size he asked to buy it....something about steel pro models being hard to get. I politely suggested he, his boss, both their mums and Bill Gates could not afford this watch. I don’t think he gets it. Poor sap.

What would be a good price to buy in at (preowned) for the 214270? Preferably the newer version with the larger hands. With and without papers in good condition. Might just have to add this to the collection it’s simple yet beautiful. Do they hold their value ? Thanks .
