polishing a ROC

now that my 2005 ROC is starting to lose time (not much) i'm thinking of sending it in for a service and valet... its pretty scratched up but nothing i cant live with. I would avoid having it polished if i wasnt 100% sure it would still have those nice sharp edges

How has you're experience been with AP service/valet?

thanks

AP service centers are the only ones qualified to do a good polishing job on a Royal Oak. My vintage 5402 looks like new after the visit to the spa.

As Hal already said, Never leave your AP with anybody but APSC.

Your watch will look like brand new if it hasn't got deep dents in the bezel.
AP only polish it 3-5 times depending it's wear, Then they offer a replacement bezel as optional.

Also, replacement bezels in SS are only about $800 I believe, so you don't have to go crazy rationing out your polishings.

Got $800ish from AP service center in Clearwater.. regarding the 26300. Pretty confident in it.

Depending where you live 800-100$ for a replacement bezel seems about right.

I didn't know the bezel replacement was only $800-1000. Good to know!

yes.. makes you feel a little better wearing that RO to the max, right? FYI, cases are about $1500 and bracelets are about $2k. I found at this out from Clearwater when I first got my ROC to help me determine how careful I should be with the watch (how much it could run me in s worst case scenario).

Don't ask about replacement ceramic bezels or FC cases.

So do folks often replace cases?

I know that's a bigger deal in the Rolex world. New generic serial number, sometimes harder to resell etc.

I guess the angular AP design has its disadvantages picking up dings...

Wow, so the movement alone is close to $20k On the ROC?

Will it make you feel better vice versa?

That was the same reaction I had when I found out. Perhaps the dial takes a chunk of the $24k price also?

Thomas, did you get that from Clearwater? I'd assumed they only do replacements and probably wouldn't sell loose parts.

I had my chrono serviced at AP last year and opted for not having it polished it. I was told that it can undergo polishing 3/4 times maximum in its lifetime. Yes, when polished, it will regain all the sharp edges and contour, but I like it to show its "true" age.

For what concerns the bezel, thank you very much for the info! If I recall correctly, I was quoted a different amount and I am interested because of a deep dent. I am actually considering polishing only the bezel, the AP watchmaker told me that it should come out nice. He even suggested micro welding but had some concerns because of the nature of the metal (ss); he said that it may show some color differences.

Thanks Thomas. Any idea which APSC has it and the cost? And I think gbany mentioned his watch is in SS.

I know it’ll be costly, but has anyone ever received a quote on a new gold bezel?
