Which dial do you prefer?
Hi Guys,
I'd like to buy a new Royal Oak 15400st. I can't make up my mind between the black dial and the grey one. Which dial do you personally prefer? Thanks! |

Has there been a recent poll on dial colors for the 15400?

Oh, I think I see it now. The thread about 15450 dial colors? For some reason, I can't see the poll results. Not sure if it's Tapatalk or me doing something wrong....

To answer your question here, it's a toss up for me. I like those two colors equally. I prefer the white and blue over those two. Sorry, that probably doesn't help you much.

Actually, I'd go black. It offers more contrast against the bracelet than the grey does.

I like the grey. It's not very common.

Sorry, prefer silver after seeing black. Silver goes well with stainless version.

Really you need to see them in person!
One think I’ve came to realise about this style of dial is how the catch the light and differ from pictures, out of the four dials I would say the grey changes the most and looks so much better IRL and so does the silver (I know that’s not on the list) Personally I’d go for black if it was an only watch or part of a very small collection, but my favourite is the ruthenium (grey) |

Even this pic under strong AD lighting washes out the ruthenium dial, it’s not as pastel looking IRL
And the silver and black dials |

The grey doesn't get the love it deserves because it looks boring in pictures.
However, the thread asks which one I prefer between black and grey and the answer would be black because I already have a grey dial steel watch that I love, which also happened to be my first 'luxury' watch purchase decision. I do find the silver and the blue dials more appealing though for the RO, but I do really like all the 15400's from dial color to watch material though. |

I prefer the black dial of the two listed for choice. I would pick white as my favorite though that was not a choice.

Black based on your two choices. Blue is my favorite though.

The grey looks great.....however I would much rather have a Patek 5990 or the new ROO 'Grey Ghost' as a grey dial piece. So I'm voting black.

Black dial out of those two. I’m not a fan of that grey dial.
For me though - Blue AP dials are my first choice and brown second. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The ruthenium is better in person, the stock photos are crap. That said I still prefer the black between the two.

Hard one for me, I like the contrast of black against SS more, but the Ruthenium looks a nicer colour, maybe similar to the anthracite 5164 which I love. Just choose the one that sings most.

Looked at black, white, and gray dial 15400STs recently with my wife. I preferred the white, then the black (very close), and the gray was a distant third. On my wrist, my wife preferred the black, then the white, and the gray was a distant third. Honestly, the gray just wasn’t in the running.
We both preferred the blue overall, but it wasn’t available in Stainless Steel to compare. Looked great in PM, though. |
