Datejust 16234 gaps between endlinks and case
How much of a gap between endlinks and case do you consider acceptable?
Would you take this to a jeweler to have the hollow endlinks adjusted for a more snug fit? |

If the rattle bothers you , you can use a bit of purple loctite on the back of the lug where it touch the flat plate. I do that to prevent the endlinks scratching the engraved serial number between the lugs.

That’s a nice looking watch. I probably wouldn’t do anything until it’s sent for service at RSC. If they think it’s out of spec they’ll tell you.

There are a few options for the fitment but not a diy imho due to risk of damaging the endlinks.
These gaps not really an easy problem on jubilee bracelets if the circlets (loops) have become stretched. The slight change in the bracelet’s loop pieces causes the edges to gap from the case. This isn’t as much a problem for the Oyster bracelet shod DJ’s since the bracelet link is wider and more solidly contained by the springbar. The best fix would to be to rebuild those jubilee loops or replace them. Expensive and not sometimes effective. Another option to try: a larger diameter springbar might help take up the slack in the jubilee loops. Lastly - and most often done to solve rattling endlinks - is to bend the wing sections on the underside upwards. This can decrease the top gap, but you must be careful because you could cause wear to the underside of the lugs if too snug. I’d suggest a good watchmaker rather than a counter person at the AD. I might try to put some Sugru (moldable silicone) in there. Easily removable without a trace and would probably do the trick.

I have a similar issue with my 16233 Datejust, it isn’t too bad and I just ignore it, perhaps I’ll try the products suggested here. Good luck with yours!

My Oyster bracelet has bigger gaps than this Jubilee does, and neither one has noticeable stretch in the links .
