GMT Master, Help!?!

Here's my story. I guess my question is, "Do I try sending my GMT Master direct to a Rolex repair center, as a last try at getting back to full and proper health? See the long story below:

This watch was a gift to me in 1979 and ran well for many years, however, after a long time it began to show wear, and run a bit slowly. Upon advice I took it to an “Authorized Rolex Dealer” for routine maintenance and adjustment, this is where my perils began!

I paid on the order of $600.00 and after about a month the watch stopped working. I was told it would need to be sent back and a new fee assessed and many weeks again to pass for a new repair. I went to a different dealer, another $600+ fee, and on and on for about 5 revolutions, and each time the watch would come back…. Sometimes it would work for a month, sometimes just for days….. Each time the “Authorized Dealer” would claim it would take a “new charge, and many months” for a new repair! (FYI, I tried 2 different "Authorized Dealers")

Finally, last year I went to an independent repair shop, who claimed to have worked for Rolex for many years. He told me that upon examination the watch had NEVER been sent back to Rolex for service! But, again, he failed to fix it as well! After 4 return visits to him I gave up as well!

At this point I have spent enough on attempting to repair this particular timepiece that I could have purchased a new one!! However, since it was a gift, and holds particular sentimental value to me, I was thinking of trying one last time to have it properly repaired, by sending it directly to the Rolex repair center!

Am I just wasting my time and $$$ at this point??

Help! I miss my Rolex!

Mike

I am surprised that you have not sent it to an RSC well before this.
