Incoming 5740 and 5270

I bought my first Patek in August from a Vegas AD, a 5230r - while trying to start a relationship with an AD to get Patek sport watches (they sold me Pepsi and kermit)- I really wasn't expecting to fall in love with the 5230 and "dress" watch in general. I got more compliment on 5230r then AP skeleton, Daytonas etc.

After trying to get a 5990 or 5740 from this US based dealer whom kept giving me the annoying answer and no clear vision on timeline, I started a discussion with a EU based dealer (we live half of the year in EU). I met with them in person and after trying on a few pieces I decided on 5270J (P didn't look appealing to me and J seems like a pillar for a PP collection - that won't age - A classic) - I told the dealer I wanted a 5270J but wanted a nautilus with it.

Well 3 weeks later I get the call - "We have a 5740G for you and the 5270J is inbound, we would really like you to also consider a 5524r but if you don't like it you don't have to take it"

So happy to have found this dealer because it would have been impossible with the US dealer - The US dealer was telling me that " maybe we can get you a 5270 but it will be hard and after we can talk about 5740, but we rarely see those ..."

I am flying out in the next few days to pick those up.

I can't wait!

No- I tried on a few watches and decided on a 5270j ( the model
I tried was spoken for) - told the ad I will get the 5270 together with either 5740,5990 -

They say we will get back to you
Reached back out a few weeks later and said ok we have a 5740 and a 5270 ready for you and we also would like you to get 5524r

I said ok but want to try 5524 (never seen) they say no problem if you don’t like 5524r don’t take it or we can find something else (we are also talking about 5235r)

What a difference in experience between the Vegas dealer and this EU dealer -
The eu dealer had no issue showing me and making me try on all the watches in the safe even if they were for other clients-

The sales rep even told me she feels bad she didn’t have a nautilus to show me - as she wanted to make sure I at Least try one on before eating one so bad (makes sense/no game)

The Vegas dealer keeps talking about the long list of customers that spent 7 figures all ahead of me…

I will try to see if they can add a 5968 to the purchase.

I am also thinking about ordering a nice MR with them 5531 is my dream watch - I really wish I could see one in the flesh - although I would be afraid to wear a piece of that caliber…

Congrats. I believe the 5531R is very difficult to source. You done well even if you have to take the 5524.

I like the 5524 from online pictures - if I like it I will take it if I don’t we will find something else - they were very clear

The 5524 is minimal downside relative to PCs and the regulator. 5205R would be pretty solid if the G blue is a no go. If they let you buy nothing else with it even better.

5172G worth a look too

Big congratulations on two amazing pieces from the maison!
To me it sounds pretty obv you will be able to get a allocation for a 5168 Aquanaut if you are getting 5270J and 5740.

Its all about relationships and some ADs in Europe is a different world than big US cities, as you mentioned above.

Enjoy them all and safe trip!

Spot on - I tried 5205 and liked it except for its thickness - the numbers are not bad but in person it looks small and thick - I don’t know why.
5172 is definitely a good option.

At this ad I also tried the new 5236p and in person it looks really good (
- for some reason the picture don’t do it justice - may be a good option as well .

I actually like the green acquanaut - i always likes green/ military green

Yes absolutely i spent time introducing myself and my family (we are from Europe originally) for a few month. I will start working on the next set of pieces with them as I am planing a trip back in March or so - I also want 5990r :)

I will ask to see what they have in the safe

Here are the watches guys and how the table looked after a couple hours of hard work :) - Had to run the CC many times although I talked to the bank many times who assured me the card will go through.

I saw the 5524 and immediately disliked it - its trying to be 2 things at once iMO

Sporty (leather, size etc) and dressed (precious metal) and decided to not take it.

Now I have to chose something else in the same ball park - I am going back tomorrow to finish paperwork and pick the 3rd piece.

What do you guys think this should be?

Some candidates are: 5235r, 5205g, I like 5231 but not sure that would be an option

OR maybe spend a little more and try to get a 5968 - I tried the 5236P and liked it last month.

What do you guys think? any feedback?
