Icon12 5513 Sub Gilt/Meters First; Is the dial real? Help?!

Hi TRF!

I am potentially buying a Gilt 5513 Submariner Meters First... I asked the seller for some pictures but they displayed poorly so I asked him again to text me some, which I'll post when I get them. I'm a sucker for vintage Rolexes... have some for sale here as well, but always switching models.

But for now:

-Produced Q3 1964 (from the caseback), which would be correct for a Gilt 5513 meters first; runs fine; original case; etc.

-The lumeplots have obviously been redone... how does that affect the value?

-I can get original 5513/5512 hands from someone, so I can replace those...

... But obviously the dial is everything. Has it been completely refinished or just the lumeplots? I thought the gilt 5513 dials were supposed to be glossy, or no? And what's up with the 'residue' at the 8/10 (and 6 lumeplot) positions?

An expert can probably easily tell from the font and dial whether or not it's original or semi-original or refinished. But I'm definitely not an expert. So please help before I shell out a lot of money for this?? (Speaking of which, what's the approximate value?)

Thanks in advance!!

Looks like it has had moisture damage at some point. :-(

Dial appears to be original, and not redone. Lume plotshave been redone though.
Throw out the hands.

Most of the value is in the dial, and there is not much of one.

I would pass. Save up and purchase the best example you can afford. Don't settle for this, you will regret it later.

I also saw that listed, Were you the winning bidder at $5300? I hope you haven't sent any money yet, as I noticed he specified "no returns".
That all said, good luck, mate!

That one has damage on the dial, possibly relumed, rubbed off serial numbers, mismatched hands, rough looking movement, and pencil lugs. Not worth 5300.

If You won the Auction and are just now doing your due diligence that's a little unfair to the Seller. You should have asked all these questions before placing a single Bid.
